Jobless Claims Soar to 3.3 million; 6.6 million this week

I’m not sure exactly what you guys think could have been done. This virus is spreading all over the entire planet like wildfire.....

It's true that the virus is everywhere now and the idea that the US could have been completely sealed itself off from this is not tenable. But no one is arguing that. Some countries are doing better than others (South Korea, Iceland, Germany). And we're doing about the worst. We should have been better equipped to deal with this. We should have had better testing. We should have taken action earlier. Those we're all within the hands of government. They failed us, at both the federal and state level.

I just explained what could have been done differently to help this situation. Post #219. Trump didn't bring the virus here, but he isn't off limits for criticism either. He would have definitely weaponized this crisis against Obama if he had the chance.

Wait we are doing worse than Italy and Spain ?

That isn't "nothing". The biggest thing Trump could have done was take this seriously from the start... but he didn't. His rhetoric only showed concern for his reelection... and if you think that he would be above blaming Obama for 100% of this, had it happened 5 years ago? Then you are kidding yourself.
He did take it seriously and cut off travel to China on Jan 31. You loons called him a xenophobe for that.

He didn’t incite public panic while taking actions like referenced above. You loons say he isn’t taking this seriously.

He has been following the guidance of his newest expert in Dr Fauci as Fauci himself has confirmed. He did follow the CDC guidance and they clearly were not prepared. You loons say he isn’t following his experts advice.

It’s almost like... anything he does or doesn’t do you loons are gonna bitch 🤔

Thanks Obama

Los Angeles Times and Bloomberg News: Federal stockpile of N95 masks was depleted under Obama and never restocked

And he listened to the CDC. They got caught flat footed. Regardless who he did or didn’t listen to you’d be here screeching about it.

Your statement about the US doing the worse is completely false. You literally spend all your time on Twitter. Go search for the graphs that show the US slightly above German when population is taken into account. Plead ignorance and go forth. Why no reference to the UK?

Should have been better equipped to deal with this? How so? Please go into specifics.

When action was taken your president was deemed a racist bigot, who hates yellow people.

It is amazing how you are completely okay we presenting falsehoods while knowing you are doing it.

So glad we got the multiple-bankruptcy-filer leading the country and not the email lady.

Uh if you want the country shut down this is what you get. No two ways about it. Quarantines kill economies. Some of us were smart enough to see it before it happened and be against it from the start.

Even if companies couldnt take money and fire people, job losses would be high. You cant artificially create or maintain demand. As long as we are shut down demand will be low.

By that time the virus was already here. And how would addressing the need for basic medical supplies have incited a public panic?

Donald Trump has been President for 3 years now. Was there anything to prevent the Trump administration from helping to replenish this federal stockpile?
Is he supposed to listen to the experts at the CDC or not?

I can’t keep up with all the contradictions when the only argument is orange man bad.

The shut downs will last longer the way they are doing it now. If they had shut everything down across the board two weeks ago we would be on the downhill side of this thing and looking to opening the economy back up in the next couple of weeks to all who are not sick.

I think it was either GAVol or VBham a couple of days ago that asked the question.....what medical advice was given to Trump by the so called experts that he ignored or decided not to implement? Nobody responded as far as I know.

You’re right. Trump was actually wrong in assuming Barry has a damn clue and should have known to replace those consumables that were depleted... in 2009.

Next deflection point?

Yep. Fauci has even made it a point to clearly state Trump has not over rode him. Doesn’t stop their TDS based screeching.

Donald Trump was comparing the Coronavirus to the seasonal flu while epidemiologists were cautioning against that style of rhetoric.

"So last year 37,000 Americans died from the common Flu. It averages between 27,000 and 70,000 per year. Nothing is shut down, life & the economy go on. At this moment there are 546 confirmed cases of CoronaVirus, with 22 deaths. Think about that!" - Donald Trump tweet from March 9th.

"This is 10 times more lethal than the seasonal flu." - Dr. Anthony Fauci, when asked by a House of Representatives committee on March 11th to gauge the danger

I just told you. Trump was ignorantly comparing the Coronavirus to the seasonal flu and this went against what epidemiologists were saying. It was irresponsible. In a time of crisis, instilling people with a false sense of security can be just as dangerous as creating a panic. This wasn't good leadership.
