Joe Milton 💪

I like what is going to happen at the QB position in the future. QB and WR positions will be very good in the future. In fact, it appears we will have very talented football teams in the future years.

All kinds of talented offensive players will yearn to play in this system. More challenging is getting defensive guys. We need a volume of guys on defense due to all the time they're going to be on the field. We'll need to rotate guys in and out, especially on the D line. We gotta sell to these guys that they're the key to us winning championships. Come and be a part of it with us!

We have been totaling DLine players and all of them are playing much better this year.

So you cannot name one single poster that hates him yet made a claim that some do hate him.
You made the claim. I’m just asking you to provide proof. Name just one.

Have you been on this site long? He was getting blasted by people on this board over and over and over, many times turning the topic to blast Joe Milton when it was about something else. I'm not someone who really remembers which posters said what, but he was getting ripped and ripped often. I know. I argued with them. I have always thought he could become an outstanding QB (he hasn't proven that yet) and I've argued with those who said he doesn't have it in him and he's mentally weak, as indicated by being "afraid to take a hit" at the end of the Ole Miss game.

Hell, if there has been a theme more debated or talked about on this board in the Heupel Era, I don't know what it is. I'm really surprised you're even debating this.

3 years in Heupel's system will work wonders for Milton even if he's only a backup the first two... I don't worry so much about 2023 as I did last year.

GO VOLS

I am optimistic that when we unwrap Joe Milton in 2023, we discover that he has grown a lot from 2021. Same physical gifts, but now 2 full years in the system, 2 years being an understudy to a fantastic QB1, and 2 years of learning what he needs to do to take the next step.

Keep in mind, Milton grasped this system very quickly after arrival and ran the tempo offense well. His shortcomings were on his personal performance, and then Hooker stepped in and Wally Pipped him.

Very optimistic about Milton in 2023.
Prior to injury, Milton's issue was the longer pass (20+ yards). Fix that, and the man will ball out.

I cannot say that I disagree with some of what you say but criticism is not hate

Agreed. Hope I'm not shot for this but Hooker didn't look as good earlier in the season as he did against LSU and Bama in terms of accuracy. There were a few people on this board criticizing his accuracy, especially after a high ball resulted in Tillman getting hurt.

I'm not trying to knock on Hendon I'm just saying QBs have a tendency to be less accurate early in the season and kind of settle into their bodies as the season progresses and they get comfortable with the rhythms of game day. Milton seems much more comfortable this year than he did last year. He'll get an opportunity to get live reps with the offense Saturday and may also get some time in the final 3 games of the season against Missouri, South Carolina, and/or Vandy. After that and another off-season of improved mechanics and repetition he could come into the 2023 season playing much, much better than he did in 2021.

In limited time this year Milton looked much improved. I am more than optimistic for next year that he will put up ridiculous numbers.

Nico is coming in early. He already has his sights set on the NFL. That means we might only get him for two yrs if he red shirts. Do we really only want him for 2 yrs if he's all he's hyped to be?

Yes; if Milton is the most field-ready, yes.
