Joe Milton 💪

Joe Milton is a high-quality dude. I am glad he is on our team.

Imagine if he is as tuned in as Capn Hook. Imagine what this young man would be next year leading the VOLS to the SEC championship.

He could spread the field vertically and laterally with his power. DBs would have to lay off about 20 yards which would open up the running game even more. Head Coach O’Brien of the Alabama team would probably quit at halftime.

I don't put any stock in what he did or didn't do at Michigan because the QB's main job in the Jim Harbaugh offense is handing off to the RB. He looks much more comfortable this year, admittedly in low pressure circumstances, but his reads and passes have been on the money. That Hail Mary on Saturday would've been thrown out of the end zone last season. His loyalty to the program this past year demands that he be given the inside track to the starting job in 2023; if he gets beaten out, so be it.

Milton is Hooker but with more size. His throwing has improved and that's all coaching. He will do very well next year.
I don't know. I forget which game it was...Ole Miss? Anyway...it was at the end and he just ran out of bounds w no time left. It's that kind of stuff you can't teach. You are what you are. He's inaccurate on deep balls as well. His mentality is what it is. It's ingrained and won't change imo. He's not smart. Hooker is. All the practice in the wotld won't change him. Imo. Hooker is special...these guys aren't interchangeable.

Anyone think they'll bring in a transfer QB next year? If they do, it's a clear sign that the coaching staff is not confident in Milton
No it's not a clear sign of not having confidence in Milton. It's more likely they don't feel Jackson, Navy or Nico are ready and want a QB that has had some significant playing time in CFB already

So hooker who was very average at vatech, is your benchmark for you are what you are? Smdh… Milton has the tools to be the best quarterback in the nation. Can Heupel get him dialed in, we shall see next season. But writing him off with your redneck logic is beyond asinine.

The game time he's got this year he looked incredibly different than when he started in 2021, give that man another year getting coached up and he'll have us in the hunt again next year I promise. Then Nico the next year, we're going to be set at QB for a LONG time. They want to play for the Hype man!

Nico is coming in early. He already has his sights set on the NFL. That means we might only get him for two yrs if he red shirts. Do we really only want him for 2 yrs if he's all he's hyped to be?

That's what he was last year. I don't think he's the same. He's going to kill it next year!

I really don't see him as our future. He's never going to have the smarts and clutch gene to lead this team to the heights that we now expect. I could be wrong but I don't see him being that guy. For example, I don't see him ever being capable of doing watch HH did with 15 secs left yesterday
We just need him to be good next year

Correct me if I’m wrong here, but didn’t he graduate from Michigan in 3 years?

I am not saying you are wrong or right, but thats basically the exact same thing that the announcers said when Aaron Rogers came in to replace Brett Farve.

He clearly has the physical attributes that you want. If he can learn to handle the pressure associated with being the man, he will be dangerous.

He put that pass in Bru’s hands but it bounced out before the half.He will be our starting QB next year going into the season.Jackson seems like a good QB also but the elephant in the room will be Nico.I look at like Jerry Colquitt started with Peyton on the bench.

Irrelevant and completely different kind of smarts. You can be contemplative and get great grades but that won't serve you well in the pocket of an SEC football game. Terry Bradshaw had great football smarts but otherwise has never been mistaken as a Rhodes Scholar

Joe Milton has all the physical tools to be the best QB in college football. The problem last year as with all his previous years was the wild throws and bad decision making, which killed our offense. In the limited time he played this year he did much better, but it's a small sample size and way less pressure. He's clearly the initial frontrunner for QB 1 next year. We'll know within two games in 23 if he's the same ol Joe or if he's turned the corner and become Super Joe.

I really want Milton to turn into a force. I don't know what it is about that kid but I like him and want to see him succeed so badly. I've actually wondered if he could be a TE or something. He's got the size and strength. Although I'd rather see him throwing bombs.
That pass against Akron was 70 yard flick to Hyatt.

Tough to teach accuracy and touch.

I hope we get back to back Heisman winners out of Hooker and Milton but I am still skeptical of Milton.

He does look like he has matured a lot from the first of last season though. Glad to have him on the team.
If he has a good year next year you can book him being the number 1 pick without doubt. Heck I think he could get drafted now on just his God given talent someone is going to always think they can fix him. Dude is straight out of a QB lab .

He is more gifted than people think. I used to know several folks from Skullbone(Bradford). I was born in Milan and most of my family from W Tennessee(Parsons, Decaturville, Lexington)

I know this has been discussed, but JM actually got that pre-halftime ball right on the money. I'll bet if you ask Bru, he would say he absolutely should have caught it. That was an amazing throw under the circumstances and i for one think jm is coming on strong......just my feeling
He almost had it twice.

Milton looks like a changed person this year IMO. Still too early to make a definitive statement. I hope he has the opportunity to have a Hooker type year in 2023.

While it was great throw in general (like 60 yards on the fly, front corner of the endzone) it's not like he was hitting someone in stride. He threw a hail mary and players swarmed underneath the ball.
