Joel Klatt brings the truth

The performance of the OL & change in OC is a big difference to me. Hell, Tennessee isn’t throwing the ball downfield enough despite having people open deep in every game. The INT Saturday was a TD if Joe had time to throw it. Another deep ball was a clear PI. Joe missed an open Keyton on the second series. 2 deep balls went for TDs. I guess Florida let Tennessee score there, huh?

This “experts” get paid by the word & they’ve gotta talk about something.

Listen, the only reason we are having this conversation is because everyone and I mean everyone thought we would be better than we are. Klatt may have not used the exact vocabulary that is acceptable to each one of us but he made some good points. We were favored in the swamp, that sh•• don’t happen often.

You made a statement about “how much better we looked against Clemson than we have so far this year.”

What I’m trying to say (and maybe not so eloquently) is that we really didn’t look that much better against Clemson. We had 8 punts in that game.
No, I didn't. I just said that all that matters is that Tennessee won the game by 17 points ... and that it doesn't matter who finished with more yards. Who cares how many times we punted? That is meaningless.

This guy is a moron.

No one was 'duped'. We had elite talent on the offensive side in Year 1 and 2, but we had a cliff with the "lost class" that resulted from Pruitt's firing. Heupel has proven what he can do with top talent and he's recruited top talent, but most of our best guys are young right now.

Can't even listen to this moronic turd. Reminds me of Skip Bayless.

You know this numbskull didn't even watch the game. Never mentions the O-line, which is by far the biggest weakness. Just claims Milton and the WRs are bad. Milton played well. The WRs also played alright, but got held all night with no calls.

I can agree with that but I think you are missing the point. Strictly based off last year there is not one person that would have thought they we were going to look how we have looked through the first 3 games (we were ranked 11 for a reason). It has be embarrassing.

Umm anyone with a rational view of the team realized Milton was an average qb who made questionable decisions. I think we all hoped the defense had improved but it’s debatable

He is ignoring the fact that due to the coaching change, and the pending investigation Tennessee didn't have a signing class of 2021 to speak of .... and so are you.

Heupel wasn't hired until January 28th. That hurt.
Understand your point, but they have had two classes since then. I think it is a failure that we don't have guys ready to go in the secondary or the OL. Either a failure in recruiting or development.

It's not so easy to find SEC-ready Offensive Linemen in high school. They are out there, but they weren't likely to pick Tennessee with the cloud of an NCAA investigation over our heads. ... Now, should Heupel have utilized the portal more? Possibly.

Tennessee got spanked at the LOS , which is where that is normally won or lost.. You got to have a mindset to play on the line of scrimmage. A angry mindset. They just came out buttery soft and let the Gators do what they normally do, Physically whoop them..

That's a pretty tough pill to swallow. Hope he's wrong. The fear is CJH runs a 'gimmick' offense that can light you up, but once good d-cordinators figure out a solution, you're toast. FL figured out a solution. But it's also alarming that we were so out-manned and beat up on the O & D lines.
Figured out? Anybody can stop anybody if you can’t block with a +1 or even +2-3 advantage in the box. That’s elementary. And having a QB who can actually create with his legs. That’s the biggest element we are missing in this year’s offense. Nobody has “completely figured out” Heupel’s offense. That’s crap.

Only time will tell and guys like that never acknowledge having been wrong. But I completely disagree.

We lost one game in a hostile environment. We haven’t been duped into thinking this is a now legit program. It is.

Who cares what a former Colorado Buffalo thinks
He works for Fox, who has ZERO financial connection to the SEC. Feel free to post any praise he gives SEC schools other than the obvious ie “Georgia is good”

He’d loved to but being 6 scholly short every year limited him. Let’s not forget he’s played with a 75 scholarship roster every year except this season

I don’t think people understand that you can’t do sh*t in this offense if the QB can’t have time to actually do sh*t. Florida didn’t really figure out a solution; we shot ourselves in the foot with terrible line play and pre-snap penalties. Give me a solid o-line and a decent QB (even Milton) and then we can know if it’s gimmicky.

Yes, Milton, and I'm not even sure he's average after what? 6 years of college football? Time to move on to the freshman and look toward the future.

I think he is not wrong but its not the whole story. We also got duped into thinking FL was worse than they were. We were duped into thinking the refs were impartial. I think end of season we end up where most sane people thought we'd be 9-10 regular season wins. There is nothing wrong with this team thats not fixable The offense needs to gel and the defense needs to incrementally improve week to week. I think anyone thinking our defense lost that game is smoking crack. There were a couple dropped passes and 2-3 missed tackles and about 5 bad calls (noncalls) that change the whole complexion of that game. At the same time Florida played with their hair on fire and made some amazing plays. I definitely don't think our team lacked effort on either side of the ball. There was nothing from that game, outside of the refs actions, to make me want to panic.

Week 3 and this guy thinks the season is already over.

TBF, it might be. We shall see, but I am not ready to hang it up yet.

Last week it was LSU that was over rated now their the best team in the SEC again. The media and the network flunkies are used car salesman and carnival acts!
Use your own brain people you don’t need to cater to these fools.
Amen

No, screw that noise. Duped? Pot. Kettle. REALLY BLACK. The sports media are the biggest ones who ran their mouths last year about how Tennessee was "back." And Joel Klatt was one of them. They're the ones who spent the entire season talking up Tennessee, or Milton, or the system, with their "expert opinions." Oh so sorry it's not amazing like last year, I guess Tennessee just totally sucks. Better toss them back in the dumpster. "Duped." What a load of hyperbolic crap.

And also, just real big fat tip of the sarcastic hat to Mr. Klatt for managing to work more praise for Nick Saban into his snide commentary about Tennessee. Of course. Never fails.

I know one thing - if Tennessee does work out its problems, I don't want hear any effusive fake praise from Klatt or any of the other internet sports media monkeys. I don't want to hear a word of it. They better keep right on walking.

Every single one of these people are about getting “clicks” in the moment. They change whatever they are saying to ride the shifting tides. Take whatever they say accordingly.

People keep acting like this is the first time TN has shat the bed against FL.

I'm not remotely pleased with what we have seen the past 2 games but there is a LOT of season left to be played. I'm usually the biggest Negavol around but the overreaction to the FL loss is a bit much right now.

And Saturday is a big chance for a " get right" game before heading into the meat of the schedule.

We are about to find out what kind of coach Heupel is and what kind of staff he put together along with the character of the players.

Put up another dud against UTSA and I'll start changing my tune.
True. I actually was worried about Vandy last year and we proceeded to smoke ‘em.

We beat ourselves in many way on both OLine and DLine.
We were jumping on a silent count.
Bush League.
You don't score when the line is jumping and flinching.

And when we didn't jump, they got pushed around. The defense tackled like it was 2016.
