I was listening to the Joel klatt podcast and in last nights episode he said if Clemson beats SMU that SMU would stay in and Vols would likely be left out for bama to get in. Do you guys think that’s possible?

It wouldn't surprise me, but I'd say not happening.

That would require SMU, Indiana and Alabama ALL jumping TN. SMU after losing a game and Indiana and Alabama while both idle and Manual stating there would be “no movement between teams not playing“. The whole system would collapse……

The head of the CFP Committee already ruled this out. Said no team that isn't playing this weekend is going to shift in comparison to any other team that isn't playing this weekend. The relative positions of these teams are fixed:

- Notre Dame
- Ohio State
- Tennessee
- Indiana
- Alabama
- Miami.

Now, teams like Penn State, Georgia, SMU, Boise St, and even Oregon and Texas could move around among that skeleton. But relative to each other, Tennessee and Bama aren't moving. They will remain at least two spots below us, with Indiana (and perhaps one or two others) in between.

Go Vols!

Nope; they already said there would be no movement of teams not playing this weekend; UT is currently ahead of Bubba... as a result, Bubba can not move ahead of UT. Only teams that can move up or down are those playing games. (Hoping for big UGA and Penn St. losses a game in Knoxville on 12/20 or 12/21)

Oh, I dunno. When it comes to politics, capitalism, and cognitive defects, you never know what will happen. Except, whatever ha[[ens is usually a bad thing for somebody.

If he said this, it was only to get clicks from Vol fans. Don't take the bait and don't waste your time thinking about it. Anyone who considers the idea as a reasonable take is stupid. Are we supposed to be dumb enough to think SMU is going to jump us after a loss? And that Indiana is going to jump us while we both sit at home? And that 3-loss Bama is going to jump us while we both sit at home even though we beat them head-to-head? Nobody is dumb enough to believe that anyone actually thinks that, surely.
