John Adams Article

Once again, this is not about Holly or supporters of the team as much as some of you want it to be. This is about Adams. He is a bammer hammer. Always has been and always will be. He normally is a thorn in the side of other UT programs especially when things are not at their optimum but apparently has seen a chance to stick it to the women's team. Ask pretty much any coach on the hill and they will say he is an embarrassment to the profession and is always looking to amplify dirt whenever possible.

Coaches on the hill need to start producing some SEC/National championships, then you won't have to worry about Adams.

Those of you who dislike john Adams as a sportswriter may not have to worry much longer. The Knoxville News-Sentinel has just announced a 37.5% increase in their monthly subscription cost (from $24.00 to $33.00/month).

While I generally enjoy perusing the paper over breakfast, this substantial increase in cost coupled with the decrease in quality and the dated aspect of the reports (caused, at least in part, by the transfer of printing services to Nashville) since the acquisition of the "local" paper by USA Today, makes the product unworthy of the cost of a subscription, in my opinion.

Right! Wish we would all remember that (other than our few resident trolls:realmad:).
You know what is more disgusting than a plain old troll? A troll that tries to pretend it is a fan of the program.:shakehead:

TJ is a good candidate for the ignore button.

I think the article is spot on! Her team's have to play better, simple as that!

Moreover, players on the past two teams often looked as though they didn’t enjoy playing with one another. A coach can’t make everybody like one another. But a coach must help create team chemistry that’s conducive to success. She also must hold all players to certain standards on and off the floor.

The way this team has performed on the court makes me wonder what’s going on with it off the floor. More specifically, it makes me wonder about team discipline and whether Warlick is a strong enough leader to advance this program any further.

Holly, you have some work to do.

Shoot the messenger - - - in this case Adams. Facts cannot be disputed except by those who don't permit themselves to be influenced by facts. When the loss column is increasing and the win column is decreasing? - - when a team can beat the best but lose to the worst? - - when player development year-over-year is MIA? - - when "me first" players fail to coagulate into a team spirit? - - the only common denominator is coaching...... and that would be bad coaching

Can it be turned around? This coming season should provide an answer

Well i am pessimist because 6 years now of CHW running things and nothing has changed year to year.... We really need some to come in who can demand respect, instruct in the fundamentals of basketball, tolerate nothing less than full CONSISTENT effort by the players, and put forth attitude of winning. That is not happening now.

I know many say that this year will be the telltale .... I say that is akin to parents threatening "don't make me stop this car!".... what is going on now has been tolerated for so long, i cannot see things changing at all.....

A good read, indeed. :good!:
Except for the last paragraph.

A good analogy. I'm waiting just like you and everyone else to see the same ole same ole with Holly's coaching. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.

The Lady Vols need new leadership and that's just a fact. But it appears that Tennessee is a glutton for punishment. Holly's coaching another season and that's just another fact. :thud:

It's not as if she has been horrible prior to her last two years this lady won 3 sec titles if they improve and get to sweet 16 or higher like it or not she will get in extension but that also means she needs to be top 3 in sec and at least 10-2 heading into sec

Yes, thank you. I try to curb my tongue because piling on is no sport and I do indeed want to see us win....

My last paragraph does not imply I think Holly should be given another season. If I was AD she would not have been hired in the first place. But she has been kept on and that's that. Will she do better this season I very much doubt it.

The Lady Vols return experienced players with skills.

But will that be enough? I'm looking forward in finding out, though. I think the LVs could win with or without Holly's coaching.

I've posted on other threads that while there is a good bit of experience returning, I would honestly reconstruct the offense around the talents of the freshmen and let Hayes and Westbrook start with DeShields, Nared, and Russell. KK and Davis can be the first two off the bench. Everyone knows the senior trio has talent but the guard play has left a lot to be desired. Cooper and Middleton being gone does hurt depth, no question there. Here is to hoping another strong recruiting class signs up to be Lady Vols

I know this threads has gone round and round and drifted from the base of the article.. on transfers... i do not think transfers make a difference or are party to the goodness of a program (with rare exceptions)

I just hope that we do well this year.... I always have seen most important person on women's college team to be the HC followed by the PG.... so I think success will be based this year on how quickly the guards fit in.... biggest thing, HC, we must live with....

One thing that should be for certain no matter the transfers still need to make the final four or make a change in coaching staff. Still have three seniors and number one class and top JUCO player to join them. We have to up the expectations or we'll never make a coaching change. Holly has a team with top five talent in the country they need to play like that.

well said, but all I all ways look forward to is making the NCAA Tournament and then see what happens :)

I do think a Sweet 16 would be good,of course moving farther along is the main goal :)

How many great coaches would jump at opportunity to coach at UT? Instead you give the keys to the Kingdome to someone that in no way deserves it. In Nasscar it is like your driver can't drive anymore so you put the tire changer in the drivers seat.

ESPN writer carried the story of the UT football fan who burned the signed jersey of the coach and turned it into a joke on Tennessee.

A boarder writes wonderful reviews of another LV sports team that hired a National coach several years ago and the team has underperformed, or is not a powerhouse like UNC or Duke. And never a word against the coach on that team but redundant posts on the basketball coach.

And so many individuals on this board use the term hate , a very strong word, not disagree, but hate a sports writer- a person most have never met because his opinion is not theirs.

throughout this thread is the word as in intense or passionate dislike. I sometimes wonder whether the other message boards many of you visit might read similar strong opinions on being right. go LVs
