Ivey may not be moving holding out for the Notre Dame job. She is only 40 and Muffett is 63 she has been offered jobs before and not accepted. They were not as big as Tennessee so we'll see how that progresses.I'm assuming that Niele Ivey is one of the coaches not named. Also my guess is that the coaches not named are the ones that Fulmer is actually interested in.

So many opinions but few of them have criteria that they want a new coach to have: For example two of the LV candidates were point guards ; is it important that coaches were players? how important is it in recruiting - obviously for me it is easier for LV coaches based on tradition. Having listened to Lawson break down basketball, women and men games, she "is not a flop" re coaching; she has vast playing professional and Olympic experience. Now, how does one judge whether a new coach can maximize the potential of players to perform during games ??? That is the concern for all of us. Getting the "most" out of top players is more difficult, it seems, that players with less fame coming out of HS.
Another issue is how to recapture the spirit and healing (my words) of the current players. What qualifications does the new coach need to have?
Finally a criterion that is important is to similarly motivate and expand the declining fan base. Meet and Greet with intelligence and confidence.
Tennessee has exhibited many (above national averages) failures in hiring men's football, basketball and baseball head coaches, and UT was fortunate to get a quality BB coach on the rebound (pun intended) from Texas.
Women's college basketball was a hell of a lot different in 1974 and back then you could get by with no coaching experience because most of the head coaches had no experience or next to no experience coaching.Pat Summit didn't have any coaching experence when she took the Lady Vols job either. I think she did ok.
If Kara Lawson is hired as our Lady Vols head coach, I give up! If she wants to get into coaching, THIS level isnt the place to start! That's like someone saying they want to start boxing, so they immediately schedule a fight with Mike Tyson! Kara would have to prove her self at a smaller level first and work her way up! Those of you saying it would be a "home run hire," I hope I never have to rely on you to hire my staff. Good Lord! At least KJH has the experience under her belt. She is infinitely more qualified to coach the LV's than Kara Lawson.
I'm choosing to give Coach Fulmer the benefit of the doubt here. If Fulmer truly is interviewing Kara, I guarantee you it's nothing more than a dog and pony show to appease the pink mafia in Knoxville! He knows there's no way in hell she is legitimately qualified to coach this team! But he has to appear to be seriously considering candidates within the LV family, otherwise he'll catch hell. He's simply playing the game to avoid that. In the end, I have faith he will hire the best available candidate for the position, whether they're VFL or not.
The longer this drags out, the more I have a feeling Phil is going to make an underwhelming hire.
Am told@phillipfulmer in Tampa for addtl intrvus 4 Lady Vols job w/ his inner circle including agent. List has 6-8 names & Kara Lawson interest IS Mutual. She’s spoken to Fulmer re: job & has strong desire to restore alma mater to prominence. Butler, Fargas, Harper among others.
