John Calipari to KY (merged)

You are right, but look at all the elite recruits he has been getting the last few years. The eyebrows of the NCAA have been raised.
He's just a superb salesman... :whistling: And trying to get a teenager to play in the FedEx Forum ain't that hard.

I dont want this guy at UK because we I want to beat them everytime we take the court, and things just got tougher. He will bring in big time recruits no doubt, but the kind of players he brings in are shady. Most of them are 1 or 2 then done plus there has always been something not right down there. I bet if he brings any recruits from his mega class that something will surface. Some booster will be un happy because a "favor" he done for a recruit.

cal is the only one that scares me. onlything i can say is congrats to the kittys. they got a great coach, and they paid a big price to win.

andy katz said they they lowered the contract. its now down to 8 years 31.162 million. so really, hes under 4 million a year. that means hes only a few hundred thousand over donovan at Florida.

dont forget the 2.5 million sign bonus either though.

I hope so !!!

yep it is. congrats on a killer pick up. should have been done 2 year ago, but better late than never.
They didn't want Calipari two years ago because they thought he was a cheater and not up to Kentucky standards. My how a couple of years changes things... :eek:hmy:

So two years ago he didn't want to go to Kentucky but now he has the top rated recruiting class in the country coming in and he does.

That is correct. Its possible that the whole thing with Tubby might have scared him off a bit as well. I think alot of coaches in the community stayed away from the job due to the media scrutiny during those times, related to how things were "handled" with tubby.

Also, by staying at Memphis, reaching the title game and building his recruiting classes, it got him probably almost twice the money that he would have got from UK 2 years ago. And this time around, just seems like a better fit, if you ask me.

I'm having trouble reconciling the hypocrisy of the UK fans these days. On one hand they blame Billy for their poor record last year, but at their first opportunity they seem ready to purge their roster (release players on scholarship) in favor of more talented players Cal will bring immediately.

I'm all for competitive advantage. UK will do what they have to do, but if Billy Clyde had released players like this it would have been considered "unethical" by the Blue Dogooders. What gives?
