Chavis is definitely a Hall of Fame coach.

Look at the number of great players he has sent to the NFL.

You claim to be 41yoa and ask that? :loco:

You never answered my first question. What is a more demeaning nickname, Chief or Phil? You get your panties in a wad over Chavis being called Chief but you refer to Fulmer as Phil. Wow. Just Wow!!!!!

No sheet, really, wonder why. :eek:lol:

Oh, it's because you're a troll looking for a fight and have no idea whatsoever what name discrimination is about. Or football strategies, player personnel evaluation or how to stay on topic in a thread?

At 41 yoa?

No, could that be it? :salute:

Chavis did not consider it a demeaning nickname, it was part of his persona and he embraced it. There are other boards for the PC police. Lighten up...Chief. This is stupid. Thick skin, aisle 4.

I had forgotten why I was happy Chavis left as our DC. But it all came back when Alabama drove about 75 yards in 40 seconds to beat LSU last year.

:good!: Its like his D's are solid as hell until they HAVE to be...still a great coordinator. In fact, if he had better play from the other side of the ball, specifically the QB, he would prolly have won a few NC's over the last few years at LSU. :clapping:

I don't remember him as the ace recruiter in Knoxville that he's now regarded as...more of x's and o"s 101 Did CPF get credit for some of the Chief's homeruns?...Is my recall bad or did anybody else have that image?

The only reason to give John any real grief was his sooooft zone defenses especially when later in the game.

Our talent level on this upcoming team is nowhere, nowhere near the average talent level of John's teams.

It's started with Chavis' eye for talent and ability to close recruits. he's still doing it and we fooked the pooch on this coach. :banghead2:

You mean running backs that were converted to defense that never did pan out?

Your recall isn't bad on this issue. Facts begin to get a little hazy as years pass. I don't think he was as active a recruiter as being portrayed, but his name alone pulled in some guys for us. I don't think he deserves all this praise for recruiting at UT as he's getting in this thread. His resume does speak for itself though.
