A&M had better be worried. They will have a great team this year, but Manziel is gonna blow it for them. They have an easy schedule, and if they beat Bama they could be in the SEC Championship and ppssibly playing for a NC.
Truth be told, I'm a born and raised Tennessee Volunteers fan who will be attending Texas A&M this fall due to the fact that my family and I moved to Texas. With that said, as a soon-to-be official Aggie, the whole Manziel thing is getting out of control. It's obvious that he doesn't care about his public image, but for the sake of not embarrassing his university, I'd love for him to crawl under a rock until the season starts.
I'm not sure why any Aggie fan would love this. It's seems pretty clear that "Johnny Football" believes he (individually) is a "brand". In a team sport such as college football, I don't see this ending well. I could be wrong but I don't think so.
"Heisman Trophy winner Johnny Manziel of Texas A&M did not finish his scheduled stay as a college coach/counselor at the 2013 Manning Passing Academy because he missed assigned meetings and practice sessions, apparently due to illness.
"Some Internet reports have stated Manziel had been sent home by Archie Manning because of 'partying,' but camp officials were adamant those reports were inaccurate...
"'Johnny Manziel did participate in some activities in the 2013 Manning Passing Academy as a college counselor/coach,' the statement said. 'After missing and being late for practice assignments, Johnny explained that he had been feeling ill. Consequently, we agreed that it was in everyone's best interest for him to go home a day early.'"
What gets me is that people are actually trying to down play the fact that he got sent home from the Manning camp. How does anybody justify that behavior with boys will be boys. Everybody else showed up but him. Even Swain is on the radio saying no big deal. Somebody ask Bray if your behavior off the field is no big deal.
Come on...Johnny Football is nothing more than Matt Barkley with a Heisman, a team that faces good defenses, a better arm, and insane mobility.
While I don't see how any of this (Johnny's 'behavioral problems', aka, embracing himself in all his glory and enjoying his life) will have negative effects on Johnny's play, it could, unfortunately due to the priggish nature of the NCAA, Texas, and America, cost him playing time at some point this season. And, well, that could be disastrous for aTm.
