I still can't wrap my head around why FSU's admin wouldn't just give Jimbo what he wanted. FSU is not Georgia Tech or Boston College. They are not a historical blue blood power, but Bowden built FSU into a powerful program that is capable of consistently competing for and winning championships. It isn't like investing more in facilities, recruiting budgets, etc. at a level on par with an SEC school is likely to end up being a gigantic waste of money for them, especially when your head coach has already won a national title. The university flubbed when they weren't on board with keeping Jimbo around. Then, with the resources to replace with a good hire, they blew it. Maybe Norvell will be a good coach for them, but he has his work cut out for him repairing what was done and getting back on track. I can't see expecting much out of him this year, and only moderate improvement next year. The FSU admin is totally to blame for the current state of FSU football. No way Norvell was fixing that this year.

Fair point, but they do love them some football in Tallanasty. They're basically an SEC school in the ACC, kind of like Clemson. You think they'd get on board with more investment in the program. In my 8+ years living in Florida, I have learned that asking WHY people in Florida do weird or stupid things is an exercise in futility.
In the context of Blue Bloods, yes FSU is not in the traditional lineup. FSU as we know it (as a University itself) didn't exist until 1947. Back to 1909 it was a women's college and the white boys were required to go to Gainesville. And the blacks had a state mandated university. They had moderate success from 60-70 with Peterson. For those of us in our 50's though FSU would qualify as a blue blood honorary member under Bowden. They had staying power under him and Jimbo, and both had great runs. 42 years of major success. How they completely dismantled that football program in the blink of an eye is mind boggling. It didn't just decline. It spontaneously combusted. Like a Buddha Priest.I still can't wrap my head around why FSU's admin wouldn't just give Jimbo what he wanted. FSU is not Georgia Tech or Boston College. Yep. When FSU joined the ACC they won 9 or 10 straight ACC titles. Then they expanded again. Then Clemson started rising. Miami was a non-factor by the time they came in, and have yet to win an ACC title. They've won a total of 14 of the 28 titles since joining the ACC. Clemson kinda skews the image of that having won the last 5, but holding 50% of the league titles since joining is impressive by most standards I'm aware of.Yea, the subject line here is awkward. Minus the last five years, FSU owned the ACC and were a perennial powerhouse. Has nothing to do with the ACC

You got a O/U on Norvell's "tenure?"
