All Is understandable.. I guess I'm not the type to sit and dream and constantly (10,000 threads) talk about one guy who in a lot of posters eyes come in and save the day... I don't believe he would come be our coach ever.. Who do I want? Not really sure... That's not my profession. But i wouldn't mind seeing a younger head coach in college who has excitement around him. A players coach. I'm not saying names cause honesty I don't Spend any time reviewing other teams or coaches. I only follow one team, college and nfl.

He's 49. That's not old. Gruden is the epitome of a player's coach.

LOL No not mad. I got my thoughts on a roll and had to type while I could. I was a Dooley supporter till the UF game. I was willing to give him time to show some significant improvement, and to my way of thinking, that hasn't happened. We still see the same mistakes being made, just in different games. How much time would you think it would take to compete with the top four teams in the conference?

Not right now...but after you pull back and think about it calmly, ask yourself where the issues are coming from. Like, throwing a pick later the 4th qtr, or a fumble late in the 4th qtr...both during a potential drive to win the game. Or being out of position or missing a tackle.

These things do show a lack of coaching...but at this stage, gameday readiness is largely on the position coaches, and yes poor execution does make CDD look bad. But his staff is not getting it done...OR cannot get it done with the slim talent level (on D). If the pieces are not in place, it's like trying to push a rope up a hill.

So....for me, before I advocate for change in the HC position, I would like to see how CDD handles the rest of this year, the off season/recruiting, and staffing...and of course how 2013 unfolds.

I am saying, we can get there without another total rebuild of the staff. I feel this is the path that Hart will choose as well.

Peace out....

Strong compared to who? MTSU

Whats left to tweak? he more or less hired a brand new staff last year.

What on earth gives the impression that he is anything better than 7 or 8 wins a season any year?

A leopard doesn't change the color of it's spots.

Well how many assistants have to leave this year to get that done?

A 10 to 12 year run here would be nice. Saban is 61 and still has a few years left in him. And Steve is still going strong at USC. Being fired hit him hard. I think he knows he could come here , have a challenge and be successful. Then leave on his own terms having proved it all on every level.

Good to hear the vacation went well. How was the dive? I've never done that. Been deep sea fishing plenty of times though. I know the wave feeling. It takes a while for that to go away.

Outside of family/loved ones, it was one of my greatest experiences.

He has TWO coaches from his original staff. We tried a change with them. If you are still advocating more time at this point, nothing will change your mind.

I would have traded places with you last week in a second. My job has been pure hell lately. It would take some serious time to look back through all of it. Had a bunch of doubters jump on board though.

You guys have built it. They are coming. After Neyland becomes Bryant-Denny Northeast, more will come.

He had his chance to save himself. Time ran out last night on his time here. If any are still on board , the next 2 weeks will leave no doubt.

Don't think I am quite that stuborn in my thoughts....but would say next year should be the benchmark for CDD. Not this year. Then let the chips fall.

Do we need to finish dead last in the east before you say CDD can't do it? Do we need another loss to Vandy and/or Kentucky? How about Mizzu beating us?

Next season will be worse than this one imo

Wasn't that what people were saying last year? That next year (2012) was the year to judge Dooley on? Well here we are baby. We have had a much more favorable schedule this year than we will next year and nothing to show for it but being up on some weak competition and moral victories. It will very likely be November before our first SEC win.

umadbro?

You want no more than every poster on this site that calls themselves a Vol fan.

You don't realize the extend of rebuilding that is needed to right this program. CDD has done a lot of positves, but work remains....a strong recruiting class and tweaking the staff during the off season, CDD will have this team playing at a high level in 2013.

Good news is you can still watch Chucky on Sunday doing his thing in the booth.

Chucky or no Chucky, how anyone could still have any faith in Dooley at this point is beyond me. He recruits mediocre with a stud or two each class that causes some to believe he is a great recruiter. He seems to really struggle with having his team ready to play on Saturday. He has shown absolutely nothing when it comes to in game coaching.
All of these facts being said, I just don't see how any sane reasonable person could expect him to ever compete with the likes of Saban, Spurrier or pretty much any other coach in the SEC.
And Grudenites are the delusional ones?

And if we lose the players we expect , it's going to be even worse. That first game is no gimmie. WKU is 5-1 and their only loss is to Bama.

Jay, OldVol, DTO, what do you make of this?

He was close to going to Miami for much less.

5 mil is about right.

Recruiting budget is what nixed the whole thing.

I'm no insider though. I just relay some of the stuff a few of the former and current coaches I know say and what they hear.

Yes.

And the 7 new assistant coaches were upgrades across the board.

Ive seen enough to know it goes past just flipping some position coaches again.

The real danger I feel...IF those on the O (Bray, Hunter, CP bail for the NFL), then I don't feel very confident against that schedule....with any coach at the helm. But, if they stay and significant improvement in performance can be made in the LB/secondary, I think that this team can get 8-9 wins.

I wouldn't doubt if someone gave him the news on Miami. It's not like he doesn't have a ton of connections down there. But yeah , he wanted $ for recruiting and access to a plane. Tennessee has the largest recruiting budget in college football. That has to help our chances.

CDD has brought in 15 CB's and safeties since he has been here and he still can't put 4 desent players on the field. Significant improvement is better recruiting and better coaching.
