Anybody thinking that Gruden's visit to Knoxville for camp in the off season helps us out if Hart decides to go that direction? You have to know that seeing the athletes we have, combined with our facilities, and upcoming athletic complex will still be fresh in his mind. I think just the shear change of pace from the NFL to College Ball has to be luring for him. As big of a competitor as the guy is I find it very difficult to believe that he has hung his whistle up for the rest of his life to just play second fiddle as a commentator. Competition is what drives this man. It is written all over him. His passion, knowledge, and love for the game would be a perfect combination for an ailing program such as Tennessee.

Don't want to start another thread, but how realistic of a chance do we have with Gruden. I mean he turned down being the Head coach at Miami, He's turned numerous coaching positions at the NFL. He's very familiar with UT, but how realistic is our chance with him?

I've been around. Today is my birthday, and I've had family obligations that superceded my Grudenite duties.

I posted some words of encouragement this.morning, and have monitored activities throughout the day. You guys had things well in hand. As a Charter 2008 Grudenite, you guys have done me proud.

Better times are ahead!

Gruden 2013
Happy Birthday Boro-vol

I thought MAYBE he might have been asked about his interest in the job should it come open. Nobody knows if it did or didn't happen , but most think not. He doesn't smile a lot , but he looked really happy in that video. If anything , it sure didn't hurt to have him here meeting everyone.

Probably brought up before, but not going through 700 pages.

Mystery to me why everyone expects Gruden??

Did he not just sign a 5 years extension for MNF??

I believe it has been mentioned that his contract has a clause that let's him out if he chooses to return to coaching.

Coach Griz, What is the difference from coaching college versus pro? Other than recruiting and maybe a little more teaching in the college game, I really don't know. Serious question.

I'll try to throw my 2 cents in to attempt to answer. In college, the HC has the say in what players they recruit. In the NFL, the HC has some say in the matter, but the owner ultimately makes the decision. I think that is close to accurate, but I have been wrong before.

In the pro's you are more of a manager. In college, you are more of teacher, even a mentor. Imo, this is why some coaches, like Saban and Spurrier never made it in the pro's. Dealing with guys who make than you do, and not to mention the ego's. Just doesn't work for some people.
