In the pro's you are more of a manager. In college, you are more of teacher, even a mentor. Imo, this is why some coaches, like Saban and Spurrier never made it in the pro's. Dealing with guys who make than you do, and not to mention the ego's. Just doesn't work for some people.

In my eskewed way of thinking then, college would be easier than pro because you have more conrol as to what happen behind the scene. I was just wondering if the toss sweep, off tackle, curl route, or post pattern were somehow different between the two divisions of football?

OK all you guys with the connections......are you on the phone right now? This is pretty hard to believe at this point of the season.

It's possible. I don't think anyone is behind him at this point so what is the point of keeping him. At this point, imo, you run the risk of losing the team if he stays. But, either way nothing would surprise me.
You still have to get people in the stands. Less people will show up if there is no HC.

Anybody thinking that Gruden's visit to Knoxville for camp in the off season helps us out if Hart decides to go that direction? You have to know that seeing the athletes we have, combined with our facilities, and upcoming athletic complex will still be fresh in his mind. I think just the shear change of pace from the NFL to College Ball has to be luring for him. As big of a competitor as the guy is I find it very difficult to believe that he has hung his whistle up for the rest of his life to just play second fiddle as a commentator. Competition is what drives this man. It is written all over him. His passion, knowledge, and love for the game would be a perfect combination for an ailing program such as Tennessee.
That was Gruden's OV as a recruit. Now we have to close.

Dooley is a deadman walking. We all know this. I don't think it would change attendance that much. But, if Gruden starts showing up, if he is the guy, then it will be plenty packed.

So BJD, that makes it harder to go from pro to college? I always thought football was football. period.

It is for the most part. A good coach is a good coach. Gruden is a great coach and I think he would relate well to college players.

I do too, but these posters keep posting about him not having college experience and I thought maybe I was missing something. To me, and I could never be confused with a coach, a lot of college coaching is motivation. Like Queenie says they'd run through a brick wall for certain coaches.

You rang?:)

I apologize in advance but I haven't been following this thread until now. So if i'ts been discussed leave the belittling to a minimum.

But if we were going to make a move where would we get the money to theoretically pay Gruden 5 mil a year? I know people saw that the boosters would handle the difference, but would they really?

The main booster I would assume would be Haslam. But if he were to be paying a lot for a Gruden wouldn't he rather post up the cash for him to coach the Browns?

Same group of guys who crossed my mind while walking the beach today, minus Stoops. I don't understand why people think we'd be able to lure the current head coach at Oklahoma. I don't think we should recycle Tuberville either, but it wouldn't surprise me if he is somewhere on the list. Better him than Smart, IMO.

Was told earlier today that things would get very quiet for a period if time...which means something is happening.

It depends on how much legwork Hart did in advance. I've heard he had his ducks in a row.

if true, i think Yay4Bray called this, someone did, i can't remember exactly who though. They're is another thread saying that Chris Low reported that Hart is sending out feelers to see who is interested.

Sounds like Jay, Montrell, Y4B, OV, and OCI were already on top of this one.

Wrong. People will rally around the team, as we should, in the absence of a HC. This team will have nothing to lose from here on out, which makes them dangerous.

Chip Kelly?

I kid.

I think it would be a good hire, if he could get a good D coordinator.
