Lets say we get Gruden, and then after a year he goes back to the league.
Guess where we are... Right back in the same boat.
No thanks.

Oh no, he might leave us.... no thanks, I'd rather have him here for one year.

Plus, if he comes here, he ain't leaving. He could have any open job in the NFL right now, no need for him to come here and cool his heels for 1 year.

Your post makes no sense.

I think the bigger issue for Hart is that he doesn't want to make a change unless he's forced to. That being said, the conditions have been set. Dooley needs a win over Bama or SCar to stay.

I think deep down Hart wants his own guy, but there is no way he lets Dooley go without having the deal completed.

But you took the time to reply to it.

A lot of reality checks need around here.

It's made....the 8 win mark is for the public.

BTW, we traditionally let coaches go after USCe....so this is no real surprise.

so what it boils down to is for him to stay he has to win 1 of the next 2 and sweep November....

but he loses the next 2 games its mathematically impossible so he then is let go???

No, he's done.... if he gets to the point that it is mathematically impossible for him to win 8 games, it's publicly announced.

Otherwise, it's announced at the end of the year.

At least that's the way I read it.

I believe making the announcement this week would be for the best. Neyland is only going to be 75% full Saturday, and half of that will be Crimson.

Announciung a change this week would give the fans reason to rally around this team for the rest of the year. They are costing themselves revenue they can ill afford to lose by delaying.

That's what I am saying and have said all day lol. The response form those I am speaking to leads me to believe there was an "8 wins line drawn in the sand" sort of thing where they will feel more justified or something. Not like it is any cheaper.

And yes, there are 100% people ready to step up and pay 100% of the buyout if we can land Gruden. Amongst the people I know this is about the only thing they all agree on. It has nothing to do with money and everything to do with timing.

Gruden apparently just got finished being paid contractually from a previous job (hehe) and has a contract with ESPN that has a very small buyout clause. Apparently it was a significant amount of money he refused to just lose, and if he took a coaching job he would have forfeited it. That is where the timing comes in, Gruden for the first time in a LONG time is no longer contractually obligated anywhere except a TV network. He wants to coach, he wants the challenge. Sure he wants a lot of dough, but that is not all of it from what I understand. I heard all this earlier in the year but was confirmed again today when my best contact confirmed that UT and Gruden have been in mutual contact over the weekend through an intermediary.....I assume that would be a booster of a very high level.

Dooley who has only coached TE, and kickers now says he is going to fix the Defense, and have more control of what the D does.

I read the VolNation all the time, and Have been a Vol Fan all my life (52 years) I love what Dooley tried to do(teach the players the history of the program, and what it means to be a Vol) BUT he has failed, and he was not ready to be a head football coach of this great program, and it is time to get the best coach money can buy to lead this GREAT Program!!!!!!!!!!!
