HR - Gruden
3B - Strong, Butch Davis
2B - Fedora
1B - Gundy
Popout - Butch Jones

Ouch! Inside the park HR...yea I'll agree but I'm not sold on challenging for the east this year. We will soon though. I think it would have been an upper deck shot if the Grudes shadow had'nt been obscureing it. I mean 4 titles in only 6 years and the rest of it. Good resume. GBO!

Whether he was our.first choice or not......this isn't dooley.....we got a heck of a coach......sometimes it is better to be lucky than good

He went 0-9 against the upper echelon of the Big East, when he took over the two-time defending conference champion. Why should I expect him to beat the upper echelon of the SEC after taking over a 5-7 team?

For the record, inside the park home run is probably one of the most exciting plays in baseball. So for the OP to be right, Butch would have to be the most exciting hire outside of Saban coming to UT.

Naw man, Gruden would have been a crushed ball, the exciting, everyone leap out of their seats shot everyone wanted to see.

An inside the park home run is more like a deep fly to right that gets lost in the sun, bounces off the wall and rattles around, and meanwhile the runner goes all the way home. You're too preoccupied watching the outfielder to realize the guys about to score.

His run still counts as much as the guy who went deep does, though.

I dont care about the other coaches on the list, but Jones is better compared to a talented minor league prospect from a good organization being called up to the majors to play for a bad team in the Yankees division. This is his first "rebuild" so I guess we will find out if his stats reflect him or Brian Kelly. Lets hope his win/loss record doesnt take a big hit......no pun intended.

I've always wondered about the appropriateness of this baseball metaphor.

Jones is a football coach, it seems, something we've been missing. Just a coach.

Schedule is tough for anyone next year, you can still judge him on how fundamentally sound the team plays, along with the heart it displays. Recent teams have lacked in both areas.

Jones initially seems to 'get it', bringing former Vols back, getting Ainge on his side, twitter(visibility of your brand), etc...

I agree he "gets it." I cant imagine him making better moves than he has thus far. He has embraced TNs storied past and former players while noting the importance of in state recruiting. He is pushing the right buttons. But, ultimately, he has to produce wins and not just good vibes. He's never had to rebuild a program before, but I think he's headed in the right direction so far.
