Jones and the Drone

You just may be right, looks pretty much the part. $3k-$4k just for the craft so wonder what camera it was using.

I'd put one of Canon's EOS DSLRs up there. Any one of their Pro EOS's would work hell just an EOS Rebel would work as they all have digi filming capacity but of course I'd prefer the higher line EOS' (even a pro-line capable of very wide shots which raises the price tag considerably but gives you the ability to take pro-quality gimungous prints -- the kind of print capable of being blown up to a billboard-- and stills along with video) which they probably already had on hand anyway.

You can by one similar with a HD camera built in at Verizon for $399. You operate it with your smart phone.

Well, I'd bet if they dropped the coin for one of those and pay a guy to operate it, they're seeing a need to have that extra film. Seeing the field from above could offer a lot of perspective on coverage and route running I'm sure.

Its awesome that your coach, or someone had the foresight to use that kind of tech to make the program better. Whoever came up with this idea is one dedicated dude.

It's my understanding that Butch is the first coach to use a drone to monitor practices.

Slow down and take a breath, professor. :p

My son has one of those contraptions, except his has 6 operating copter blades instead of 8; He attaches his GoPro camera to it and makes awesome videos. The camera is almost as expensive as the copter. We plan on making some videos with it from the roof of G 10 this fall on gamedays. It will fly to a couple hundred feet in altitude, and a distance of about 1/2 mile.
