Jones Doesn't Rule out Paulk

I am certainly qualified to pass judgment on this situation. I would also think twice about allowing my son to play for Jones if he allows him back.

You must work in the AD or be on the staff to know all the details, especially if your "certainly qualified to pass judgement on this situation". So let us all in on the qualifications ya have and hey, ya just might change someone's mind around here.

Very commendable...no sarcasm. It's probably better for our football program that you're not in the position to make final decisions like this one. For every parent like yourself that is open and shut on this subject, there are two/three that either have a kid who has messed up royally, or knows a kid who has and doesn't believe they should be tarred and feathered. I have a daughter and I would sign off on her going to Tennessee. Butch doesn't cultivate abusers...he dismissed Paulk immediately. If Paulk returns, it won't be a flip emotionless decision.

Solid right there, just solid

In am qualified because as a decent human man, I dislike violence against women.

My source is the Knox police as quoted in the Times Free Press

He punched her in the mouth, cut her face, police took pictures. Jones promptly dismissed him.

Butch allows him back, and imo it's a very poor decision. Sends the wrong message. I can't imagine what the Lady Vol players who saw it think if he's allowed back. Lots of talk of "character" being important. I guess it's not as important if the RB depth chart needs another body. SMH

So you kick him aside where he's given a 2nd chance somewhere else and likely stays an AzzHat. Or you give him a list of things to do (get help ect) to help him grow and become a better man. If he proves he's willing to and he's capable of change then give him a 2nd chance.
We are set at RB. If depth was the de terminating issue he wouldn't have been booted to begin with

So.. What if she was trying to rake his face off with her fingernails? Or maybe she was punching him in the face? We do not, and likely will not, know the entire set of circumstances. You have a right to defend yourself, woman or not. Maybe that's what happened... Maybe she was going off on his face and he punched her back. You aren't qualified to pass judgement because you dont know. Violence against the opposite sex goes both ways regardless of anyone's ideas of chivalry. I don't want our players punching anyone - male or female - for no reason, but there are reasons that warrant defending yourself. And just maybe that's what he was doing.

Well by what your sayin your no different than oh, I don't know, we'll say 90% of the men on this board then. We dislike violence against women as well.

And if the Knox PD had all this info and proof then why did they not charge the young man? After it becomes a police matter then somebody gets charged.

And side note, since when did we start believing anything the Times Free Press reports? I guess it all depends on why they're reporting as to if it's true or not.

We don't know what Paulk has been doing in this interval. As I posted elsewhere, if he's been going through intensive counseling, complying with stringent curfew and classroom requirements etc., and therapists etc feel that they see a change, I'm OK with letting him back. If he's just been noodling around, watching soap operas and playing games on his laptop, fuhgedaboudit.

I don't write people off, especially young people. I sure as hell put an asterisk by their names though, and keep a close eye on them.

You are no different than every other man on here. But you seem to be a bit holier than thou. I'd love for your deepest and darkest to get out for public consumption. Bet your story would change when you asked for a second chance. You'd hope someone like you wasn't in charge I bet. Dude, last time. Relax, he's not on the team yet. He has a lot to do according to our leader. Let the man lead and if it helps you Jones' dad was a policy officer. Point, I bet Jones doesn't like hitting women either. He was prolly raised that way.

So, since TFP is not reliable, and KPD didn't press charges, then why in the world did Jones dismiss him?

And to the "raking his face" dude above....witnesses said they were arguing and he struck her. You know, shooting off that mouth, gotta keep them in line. And even if she did, lol @ Paulk "defending himself" from a teenage girl. What if she had hit him with her purse? He could have gotten a nasty cut from the zipper!

I'm not wasting any more time arguing about this when anyone with common sense knows he should never be allowed back.

How the hell do you know what witnesses said? You have a copy of the police report? You're a sexist pig, dude. Women are all weak and pathetic with your "lol @ Paulk 'defending himself' from a teenage girl." You don't have common sense, you have a preconceived notion that he beat the **** out of a helpless being. It's this kind of stuff that makes me sick, and why I hope to God you are never summoned for jury duty.

Your idea of "common" seems to be YOU...I'm qualified to say that.

If we still had Scott or keep Bussey.. Not even discussed

And that is part of my issue with it. Its not a "life lesson". Its wanting more depth at RB. IMO it's just that simple. If Paulk played any other position and was dismissed, this would not even be a consideration. I agree that had Scott not walked or Bussey accepted the BS, Paulk would have not been in the discussion.

I honestly don't believe this has anything to do with our depth chart, and I'm as jaded as they come. Of course, if it does, we are having the wrong discussion altogether. I would like to think there is a stronger moral fiber running through our coaching staff than that.

Morals? This is college football. If you have any integrity or morals you WILL lose. Just the way it is.

Or so I've been told.

Well said. I'm just sick of all the Lancelots riding around here on their perfect white horses in their black and white worlds.

Very well said.

Now come Sunday, they will be singing praises about forgiveness, redemption, salvation and second chances.

You have to draw the damn line somewhere, I'd say violence against a female should fall outside of a second chance with Tennessee. I believe in second chances, but he should get his somewhere else.

That's where I am with it. Looks kind of strange to see Butch sit there in the NSD presser speaking about how character is #1 for them when evaluating these kids. I guess once the LOI is signed, all bets are off. Punching a woman in the mouth IMO does not speak to "quality character" so much.
