Jones Doesn't Rule out Paulk

Butch preaches character. He preaches family. He talks about getting to know these kids and their families during the recruiting process. Maybe instead of all the coach speak, he should ask more direct questions?

"When raising your child, have you encouraged abuse of women when possible"?

SMH

Yeah, that's how it works.

Do you think before you post or just type randomly?

Let us also not act like we have all the info. Humility let's have some.

The same folks saying, "we don't have all the info" are the folks who swore the kid "did nothing wrong" because someone (claimed) the reported story was totally inaccurate. I think it's clear he absolutely hit the woman, you can twist the rest however you see fit.

Clear as mud because you believe it...sounds scientific. :wink2:

He is dismissed, not suspended.

Its 5+ months later and he's not a part of the team.

Butch says, "he MIGHT" be able to return IF he does a bunch of things he needs to do.

IMO, guilt is no longer in question.

"He did nothing wrong" is a joke at this point.

Yes, it's common sense.

Fellows don't try to reason with Lebanon Vol; he loves to spread his misery to others.
Thank goodness "fans" like him are few and far between. LOL.
Do yourself a favor and IGNORE him. You will be glad you did.

What is clear is that last year's bowl winning football team had some major character flaws.

Anyone paying attention knows they will continue as well. I'll be honest, I hope Butch wins a lot of ball games in 2015. If he doesn't, it will come crashing down very quickly IMO.

Those top 5 classes don't look so good when 8-10 of the kids who signed don't see year #2.

Replace them with 15 better players. #science. :)

You should read some of his gems in the recruiting forum. He's the only poster I've seen who consistently complains about CBJ's recruiting.

Not constantly. Butch does some things right. He makes some very questionable moves as well IMO. That's what is great about a message board. Fans can discuss BOTH sides of it.

This we agree on, the kid is guilty imo. Now, is he damned to this kind of action or can he contribute to society after learning a better way.

Despite your other remarks, you never answered the question I posed. Nobody debates Jones ability to recruit. If he doesn't feel the kid deserves the chance, why not just replace him? That is the biggest factor in this. Please address.

It would have been easier to replace him but Jones chose the harder path. From my experience, that is not something to "look down your nose at".

He's taken the team from the worst in the SEC to the team many of the so called experts are picking to win the east in just 3 years. He's doing the job he's getting paid to do. If there are a few brused egos along the way so be it.

Yeah, I've read them.

He has accomplished something many others have not.
He often brings VN together in a strong majority opinion. (Even if that opinion is about his opinions. ) :)

I can't speak to why Butch would choose to keep the kid around. It goes against everything he preaches about character. Yeah, the kid can get a second chance. IMO, it should he elsewhere. Imo it sends the wrong message to a lot of folks allowing a guy who punched a woman to wear that Orange. Wrong message to the team, to other teams on campus and ESPECIALLY the woman on campus.

IMO, it's a very poor decision.

Maybe but in IMO, Women would rather see someone reformed than just passed on to other women.

FWIW, I checked with my wife, she also would rather someone fix the problem (if it is fixable) than to just put it off on other women.

The talent has been upgraded. Folks think the talent is there to win. Hopefully it equates to winning. I'm in we'll see mode. I'd like to see a little more focus on development and a little less focus on over signing the next class. That is the reason I'm not sold yet. Being young and using it as an excuse is over. Yes they are still young, and it's their own fault.

Butch allows him back, and imo it's a very poor decision. Sends the wrong message. I can't imagine what the Lady Vol players who saw it think if he's allowed back. Lots of talk of "character" being important. I guess it's not as important if the RB depth chart needs another body. SMH

If Butch allows Paulk back on the team, he'd better be certain that Paulk 1) is innocent and 2) will be a model citizen for the remainder of his career. One screw-up and Butch will get blasted by the press.

Is it possible if Paulk were to go play elsewhere that the coach who chose to take him on could make sure the kid has dealt with his issues and done what he could to make sure it wouldn't happen again? Of course.

I am not twisting anything. You post as though you, jones , the da, Paulk, and the victim sat down for coffee and hashed it out right together. You don't know all the facts. Did he hit her? Probably so. Does an incident of domestic violence mean you should never play at UT? That's a reasonable debate. However, if Butch brings him back remember that is the norm. Not bringing the kid back would be Butch operating against the norm both with regard to UT and other programs.

Imo there is no way he is innocent. If he were, why would he have "do some things" to he allowed to return? If innocent, he would have been reinstated months ago. Imo, his guilt isn't in question. The day he was dismissed, Butch declared him guilty.
