Jordan Mathews, Ricky Gibson III - where are they?

No he isnt responsible directly good god. Three other players had their shots at Etienne also well before he got to the back side corner. 44 also isn't ready for that task.
See the above post, but again, just because three others didn't make the tackle in traffic doesn't somehow absolve Hadden from his responsibility as the last line of defense on that play. Defending him on that play is senseless. You can be mad at all four guys, but you can't say Hadden had no responsibility or fault because the three before him failed to do theirs.

Hadden didn't appear to want to tackle him.

Unfortunately if they’re not seeing the field I would think it means they’re not ready? Although at this point the corner play has been bad enough that why not rotate them in and give them an opportunity.
I think it means our coaches don’t know a good cornerback when they see one and don’t know how to produce playmakers at the position

Watch again - Walker was far more responsible for that TD than Hadden was.

Well I watched but what Hadden did and did not do is way more glaring but Walker does give him a run for his money. Good grief it’s almost like he tried to avoid him all together at first. He hates physical contact and needs to sit until he tackles and defends like your supposed too. We have others that can at least give better effort than that. Tackling has been a problem for him maybe riding the bench some will do that. That doesn’t excuse walker either good grief he must have closed his eyes he misses Florida player right there and takes out his own player. Break out the tackling dummies and make them wrap up till their arms ache. If you can’t handle tackling right go warm the bench! GBO

I would like to see Matthews or Slaughter replace Hadden and Hadden should ride the bench for a few games until he wises up and tackles better while keeping his mouth shut on the field.

That f'ing pathetic shoulder bump allowed a 75 yard TD that completely changed the tenor of the game.
The linebackers should have filled the gaps, and the safetfy should have cleaned up what they missed. Blaming the DB in pursuit is a fundamental misunderstanding of defensive responsibilities. Florida's RB should have never made it to Hadden.

I did hear Heupel in the presser say he told Rickey he needs to keep picking it up as we need him on the field. Him and Matthews need to start pushing hard for playing time.

Have you seen any practices? I don’t think you have. If the coaches believe they are a better team with him play, he would be playing.
Yes because clearly our coaches are great geniuses that never make mistakes in evaluation or preparation. Just look at how brilliantly our team was prepared for the game last Saturday. Clearly our coaches are beyond reproach. Especially our secondary coach - anyone can see he is earning his millions.

Whatever any player at this level knows how to tackle. Hadden has demonstrated more than once he can’t. Him and Walker looked embarrassing on that play. Maybe a linebacker or linebackers were out of position, that doesn’t give a pass for 2 players that both were in great positions to stop the ball carrier. They both failed miserably on the play. And it’s not the first time for number 5.

The whole damn defense failed in the first half. As a whole they were not effective at all. I blame all of them as a whole. Several played horribly. I don't think Herring is ready to play meaningful time either

Its not the firat time for walker either. The whole secondary needs reworking including staff imo. Not sure that will happen but it should

Indeed! I’ve already got it all figured out. Waiting on Coach Heup to call me for recommendations 😂
In all seriousness I do agree that Banks and/or Martinez are probably not going to be here much longer. Still a lot of season left to play but it's year 3 and they looked pretty bad the other night.

Hadden knows how to tackle and defend passes. He just , for some reason, does it about have the time This is a matter of attitude and if he is allowed to get away with it, it spreads to other players who are unwilling to play every down to the best of their abilities. This is why his butt should be sitting on the bench. This is not the example our young players to see if they want to playpen to their abilities.

Hadden definitely should have come in lower and ready to make a tackle, but more blame lies on other people's shoulders than just Hadden. Let us not forget the responsibilities of our other players/position groups before blaming #5.

I just want to see our DBs attack the ball every once in a while. It seems like they’re always on their heels. It’s like they’re playing not to lose. I don’t know if it’s talent or coaching but Banks and Martinez are responsible for both.

I’m seriously not unconvinced that Hadden isn’t secretly betting on the outcome of some of our games. We’ve seen plenty of players and coaches reprimanded for doing such. Hadden’s effort would make a lot more sense if he was throwing games than it would otherwise. I refuse to believe an upperclassmen puts forth such pathetic effort on certain plays just because “he’s bad.”

I had the same thought about Heupel. We just conveniently have a major contributor suspended before the SC game last year, and now we have three players suspended right before the UF game. People complain about Saban and Smart protecting their players, but when has either of them ever suspended a key player, or just not played him a la Sampson, for a pivotal game? Would have made a hell of a lot more sense to suspend them for UTSA.
