Horse****. I believe in backing up your opinion without waiting on a moderator to come save you. I asked you a question. You refused to answer.
Yes I think Richardson is without a doubt a better than average d1 defender. If you wanna go by definition, average would be the average defender on your average team.
There are 345 division 1 teams, so average team would be 172.5, going by end of year RPI that team would be northeastern or boise state. So you're telling my, by your standards, josh Richardson is not a better defender than your AVERAGE player on Boise state? Once again keeping in mid averages here, so your average player on Boise state is their 6th or 7th best player.
So yes, IMO josh Richardson is a better than average D1 defender, or a better defender than Boise states average defender whichever you prefer. You obviously do not feel that way though, and that's your opinion, however wrong it may be.
Good math and all but you know, or should know, that many times the 6th or 7th best are often times your better defenders. So the logic you use doesn't necessarily mean that Richardson is above average.
You don't think that some lower level programs that have to preach fundamentals play solid defense? You may not always have star power, but d'ing up every night can keep you in games.
So his example is still not good.

Haha, go ahead name me a Boise state guy, who's a better defender and their 6th or 7th best player.
I'll wait.......
I think some may but the teams that struggle in their own conference probably still struggle with defense too.....I do feel tgat a more athletic player with a defensive minded coach like martin is probably better at defense than a less athletic player with a defensive minded coach.
you asked bto to back up his opinion and you just backed up your opinion with another opinion
You pull one school out of your ass and want to name a better defender?
Like I said in my post above that evidently sailed violently over your head, using your run of the mill middle of the road program isn't helping out your argument.
No, I didn't. Just told him that isn't helping his argument.
As for your first paragraph, I agree that the more athletic guys being preached the importance of D can be more successful. But you know as well as I do there's not a lot of defense minded coaches at the upper level. That's why I am glad UT hired Cuonzo.
Yet Richardson is no better a defender than the average D1 teams 7th best defender?
Make up your mind bruh
You asked for an average school by definition that's the average D1 school, try and keep up.
The kicker here is your argument is well lots of times the 6th and 7th best player is actually a good defender. Funny thing is, your original statement was average defender. SOOO...using the AVERAGE team(Boise state) and their AVERAGE DEFENDER (6th or 7th best defender on the team) you are saying that player is equal to Richardson?!?!
Haha comical. Richardson is apparently an equal defender to the 7th best defender on a 12 win MWC team, oh please continue.
I'm not trying to argue great or not, but satin he's average for all of D1 is asinine, ad should tell everyone how meaningful anything NYY says truly is.
Yeah I'm not disagreeing with you. If he shows some improvement, he's bound to be one of the best defenders in the league. Kid has more upside than I fist thought, but it's up to him to work hard.
