Sixteen minutes isn't exactly chump change for a freshman, especially one who was as offensively raw as Richardson was.I think Richardson has the potential to be a great defender. However, after one season of just averaging 16.0 minutes a game, I don't think you can say he's anywhere above an average defender at this point in time.

That's why he played 16 minutes, because of his defense. His offensive game was probably worse than Mcbees, and definitely tatums, so the only reason he played and started some games was because he was an above average defender.
He will be ok, but he had as many blow by's per minute as anyone, including Mcbee, whom many say can't play D. His best D is inside the 15 foot range, including help D and coming from behind with an athletic block.
