Jordy to WNBA

Horston deserves heartfelt congratulations on her outstanding Vol career. Owing to various issues, she had to carry a big offensive load
for us for four years--and she usually performed well, and often very well, even when opponents knew she was UT's go-to scorer and defended her aggressively. She was also a strong rebounder, an imposing defender--and she always gave good effort on both ends of the court. Jordan was stalwart--our mainstay-- and as such she will be greatly missed. She leaves a big hole in the lineup. I wish her much professional success and happiness in the years ahead.
One thing that happened w Jordy's career was alot more of it was spent defining her role than anyone thought there would be. We thought, and she thought, she'd be the PG of the future for us and we spent a couple of years painfully trying to fit that square peg into a round hole. Didn't really envision her as the swiss army knife do all player she became. It's to her credit and KJH's that they worked through it all as successfully as they did. I agree w posters who've said with a role more well defined and scoring expectations a little less she could become an even better player in the pros.

We'll have Key and Hollingshed back. And Striplin, Darby and a few others can contribute. And who knows, but we might get a dynamic Freshman or a portal player who can contribute.
Almost certain UT will draw one of the better portal scorers now imo. A starting position would be a lock for a great player and much needed.

You might have overlooked a pretty important returnee there. The one who's a lock to start the season on the Naismith Watch List.

Agree. Happily! There's a boatload of buckets and assists waiting for a couple of great guards.

Took me a second… (NWL) … surely they aren’t talking about JP… are they? Duh… Rickea fo’ sure. Assists City. Less dribble more catch and shoot.

I think Vol fans get Key mixed up with other players. That's the only explanation I can think of for their strangely exaggerated views. Key has never had a "field day" offensively. She is not a traditional scorer in any way. We're talking about a player who averages 2-3 made baskets a game, plus a handful of FTs. She averaged 8 points this season before retiring with her health issue and she averaged 8 points a game the year before--full season. She's never been triple-teamed and I don't remember anyone double-teaming her, either. Just trying to stick to the facts here.....
The year before she averaged 10.5 points per game, not to mention there were also 3 other double figure scorers on that team. Where do you come up with this stuff? It surely isn't from a stat sheet. She got her 2nd triple double that year as well, you know the only lady vol in history to ever do that. To put that in perspective for you, that is almost 50 years of basketball since the Pat Summitt era started in 1976.
