In this case, you are obviously right. no real surprises here. However, there has to reach a point where we quit buying into the whole "Kiffin has a plan" theory. I think his plan has been off the tracks for sometime now and he is just hoping to hold on. I obviously hope that I'm wrong, but there reaches a point where we gotta quit giving him the benefit of the doubt.

Go ahead and jump off the Lane Train....either you are a true VOL or a fair weather VOL....I think you are the latter of the two....but like TNfaninMS said, "Theirs something special brewing in Vol Land" I agree....GBO!

wow it doesn't take long to trash the staff that pulled several quality recruits last year . Done in a very short time period I might add.

Then I guess it's a good thing I don't care what you think..

some things are more important than recruiting rankings for us "fair weather fans." I have enjoyed Kiffin and what he has done thus far, but it hasn't taken long for him to put the reputation and standing of UT on shaky ground, and that is why I am CRITICAL, not trashing, the staff. Nothing wrong with being critical, unless you are like ROTE and think that blind acceptance is the only way to prove that you are a "True" vol fan.

My point was this staff shocked everyone last year with a really decent class considering the coaching change and short time period.I am hopeful they are going to do it again.

What disturbs me most is people drinking the koolaid the nyt and ncaa are serving. The program is not on shaky ground .

WPAINE, you've never been on the Lane Train...

I was never upset with the hire of Kiffin or the firing of Fulmer. I just don't like blind allegiances. I feel like most people on this message board don't think twice before bashing a player, but once someone is critical of our multi-million dollar coach it is blasphemy....I just think thats backwards.

they did finish really strong for sure, no denying that. But what disturbs me is that folks keep forgetting that perception is EVERYTHING. It doesn't matter if our program is on shaky ground or not. If the perception out there is that it is, then it is. And I think we can all admit that one reason why the NCAA is after us and nit-picking and allowing for this perception to muster (even if it is flawed) is b/c of Kiffin's brash, if not downright disrespectful, remarks towards the NCAA over the past year. He now realizes that which is why he has consistently come out and started talking about how he and his staff take the rules "very seriously" despite implying the opposite this summer when he said secondary violations weren't a big deal.

Jose was "encouraged" to look elsewhere....the other two can not make grades......not , at all, a reflection on this staff

Jose Jose was not that impressive against Northwestern (I think) during the game on ESPNU. Best of luck to him. I was surprised UT offered in the first place.

Florida and Miami also offered. He can shed the pounds and my guess will be a legit player. If Dan Williams can do it so can he.

Then why did he commit to USF? The guy may be all world, but in that game he made very little contact with anyone. Not a very good trait for an Olineman, IMO.

Florida wouldn't have taken him. I'm not sure the U would have either.

If he's really 385 pounds, then no wonder he won't be here. He'd never get off the bench (figuratively and literally).

I think you should look in the mirror when you spout this perception crap. There are schools with legitimate problems that are not suffering. The teams on the rise get all the attention. Good and Bad. the sooner you realize this the sooner you will feel more comfortable with what is happening on the hill.

what are you talking about? Teams on the rise get all the attention? When was the last time you heard something BAD come out of the press concerning florida that actually affected their perception? They had around 2834092 arrests this off-season but the PERCEPTION is still that CUM is a great coach and mentor b/c little Timmy from Nazareth was there. Their perception was never bad, even though it should have been (even after the Spikes and Dunlap incidents)....Same goes for USC, etc. They commit a secondary violation and its not a big deal, now anytime we sneeze wrong it is cover of the NY Times. To say that what we are experiencing is "common" for programs on the rise is ridiculous. We are a pariah, thanks in large part to the PERCEPTION given off by the media. That is why it is a big deal, because perception is everything.

However, schools like Michigan who are clearly NOT on the rise got a lot of attention b/c the media has decided that they are not going to like Rich Rod.

Do you remember the amount of press Spikes got for poking another player in the eye? Oregon's RB, Blountpunching the white guy? The opening week press about Rich Rod's lack of record keeping on work outs? Alabama's text books, again? You think we are a "pariah" not everyone. What you see and hear is fear. Get over yourself.

BTW your hero, PF, was the "Pariah" who couldn't go to the SEC media days because he was a snitching bastard.

This is why I like CLK more and more every day. The NCAA is as crooked an organization out there. As long as we are running a clean program and there are no skeletons, I say keep up the talk.

I see your point, but IMHO it is too late to worry about it, we just have to trust that our staff is smart and resourceful enough to overcome the bad PR.
I think LK will work harder than ever to get back at "them" by being succesful, and.... I like that.:hi:
