Josh Heupel emerges (old thread)

I tried but I don't find this as impressive as you do. You are trying to build up teams as Tulsa. Pitt. Cincy as if they are perennial top 10 powerhouses as if they are like Florida, Georgia and Alabama.
"Destroyed Marshall in bowl game by 4 TDs" is just not doing anything for me. Have anything else?
Heupel fired from Oklahoma...indication he cannot cut it against real perennial powerhouse schools?
If what I'm reading is true, UCF fans won't be too broken up over Heupel leaving.
Relative talent level...

Bruh, we need to get this kid on a nutrition regimen.

WOW.

Yep, I do NOT understand it. Why do some Coaches feel entitled to become absolute slobs? I watched JH this season. Not Impressed! Frost had UCF 12-0 , and JH took the Knights down from there . This year, During a UCF Game, I commented that his body language wasn't good; having NO Idea he would be coming here. He simply doesn't have "Leader" written on his face. Ut's rivals are Giddy Today. Another "Splash Hire" hit the mud hole.

Here we are fellow UT fans... We have our coach after the dismal failure of Coach Pruitt.

I know everyone is experiencing different emotions right now. We are UT and in my opinion a program of rich history and tradition.

We have to give this coach our full support. He agreed to step in, with not knowing what all sanctions and penalities UT will be handed by his precessor.

While I was hoping for a big name hire myself, I just want what is best for the University of Tennessee. I hope and pray this is our guy. Only time will tell, but I will give him my full support like I always do for UT.

Wishing him all the best and hoping for a better future we all can be proud of.

Maybe this is the best we could do given the circumstances. If we can just get through the NCAA problem the next couple of years, then we can go and get a real coach. Like Ole Miss just did.

Can’t we just get a good looking guy?

I mean I’m not a homo (nor am I saying that’s bad) but dang we been having to look at some jacked up looking coaches for quite a while.
Dooley looked like the next Nick Saban but coached like Barney Fife. Somehow neither Jones nor Pruitt truly looked like HCs, especially when they spoke. I could never see them as bright enough for the job.

Yeah. OLE MISS was desperate to Win! OBVIOUSLY Tennessee hasn't reached that point yet.

I can't say the talent level at UT right now is whole lot better than what's at UCF.

Heupel may work out, I don't know but what has got me irritated is almost $20 million was spent on this hire.

The SEC is THE premiere league and only 14 men have the privilege to coach in the SEC. Any "up and coming" young coach would love to get a head coach job at ANY SEC school. That's why I say Fulmer could have made a Heupel like hire without spending $20 million. Even the big Heupel supporters here on Volnation should complain (at least a little) about the amount of money spent on this hire.

If I owned my own private business. would I risk $20 million of MY OWN money on a investment that has as much chance (or more) of failure as success? NO!!! But UT being a public institution where they spend other people's money on needless, too risky decisions.
