The offensive gameplan was dysfunctional. Much of the playbook was left untouched. We were running play action deep shots over and over again, giving up numerous sacks. We passed when we should have run and we ran when we should have passed.

The biggest issue is an inability to run the QB and move the passer outside of the tackle box. We need these dimensions for our offense to be successful this year.

I don't think we have a nico or a Milton problem. We have a coaching problem.

Idk, maybe Elarbee. Whatever the play calling dynamic is the past two years has not been working. I'm not sure if that is on the booth or the sideline but it's pretty clear there was a dropoff after Golash left.
I think Elarbee needs to focus on fixing his oline. Zero excuse in year four to have a group play that poorly.

Nico’s not ready and Heupel’s trying to make it work with conservative play calling and leaning on defense. Thats not his style. This is year 4, his QB and supporting cast. Take the damn handcuffs off and quit protecting the kid before you lose the team.

Mostly, we went too conservative in the last 2 games because we thought our defense could carry us. It took away the sizzle on offense when we go slow and boring. Then it’s hard to turn it back on.
Should never turn it off. Playing scared loses games. It got way too close in the OK game and it came all the way back to kill us tonight. Keep running your offense until the ambulance comes out for the other team.

It’s a very different play calling structure than what we saw in 2021 and 2022. I would rather go back to that “gimmick” offense because this hot garbage play calling isn’t working.

I know everyone just laughs when they call our offense a “gimmick “. Offense.

But the problem is there’s no gimmick, none!
And when you’re scoring 0 points and less than a 100 yards in a half, you NEED to run a few gimmick’s to keep the D guessing,
Damned if I know why they don’t

Exactly. And “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!” For some reason, someone decided to get under the hood and “fix” it. Bad decision.

And now it’s broke, and they don’t seem to realize it is or they have no clue how to fix it!

I recall someone asking a Defensive Coordinator at Alabama about who was in charge of the defense and he said, "Make no mistake, Coach Saban is in charge of the defense." Yeah, Saban was known for his defense his whole career, so that makes sense.

If the offense is struggling at UT, I'd want to lay the problem at the feet of the coach who has been known their whole career for their offense and that's Josh Heupel.

If the play calling is dysfunctional, I feel certain each play is going through the headset of Josh Heupel or coming from the headset of Josh Heupel. He's a coach who made his reputation on designing his offense and running that offense.

Whether he's calling the plays or not, Coach Josh Heupel is DEFINITELY in charge of the offense and undoubtedly takes the lead in designing our gameplans, which plays are stressed for each opponent, what we want to exploit in their defense, etc.

If it's dysfunctional, Josh Heupel is waist deep in that dysfunction.
