Josh Heupel needs to hand off play calling duties

The offensive gameplan was dysfunctional. Much of the playbook was left untouched. We were running play action deep shots over and over again, giving up numerous sacks. We passed when we should have run and we ran when we should have passed.

The biggest issue is an inability to run the QB and move the passer outside of the tackle box. We need these dimensions for our offense to be successful this year.

I don't think we have a nico or a Milton problem. We have a coaching problem.

when your OL can't protect your QB, you will have play calling problem. Limits the plays you can run. Nico is running for his life back there....

Whoever it is, they need to be in the press box. Golesh was. Easier to see the field. Wonder if Heupel ever sat in the box as OC?

Something definitely needs to change. This won’t cut it against SEC teams (or for that matter, most any team with a pulse).

There was not one drive I saw yesterday where I was impressed with playcalling. Our two scoring drives early in the 3rd were just our OL blocking well and we ran it up the middle. When that stops working, our offense is painful to watch. Defense has no respect for our downfield passing game.

I think running tempo and short intermediate stuff mixed with inside zone is the way. Use the Te's and backs out in the flat make them run sideline to sideline Gass them then throw it deep. You have to keep defenses guessing. This is what Golesh did so well. Get the defense playing sideline to sideline with a setup play then boom over the top for a splash. Got to get back to that and Nico can process that. It seems we run up the middle swing pass to wr and run again way to much.

Faster routes, slant, dig routes throw it to a back leaking out. Hell set up a screen. All this slows pressure. Why we refuse is crazy. Help your QB

This! Petrino, his play calling, put Green in a position to succeed, and he did. Our coaches did not do that with the game plan. It didn't reflect the OL issues at all, and probably asked a lot of Nico in his 6th game.

The way i look at it, this is Heupel's team and his offense. He should be able to do whatever he wants. If that doesn't work, he'll ultimately be the one to answer for that.

I think Elarbee needs to focus on fixing his oline. Zero excuse in year four to have a group play that poorly.
Well last week most on this board said when we get Heard & Campbell back and quit playing backups, we will be fine. Not so and Heard had 2 five-yard jump penalties to put us behind the chains and Karic down field erased a 25-yard pass play gain and put us behind the chains,

One of the worst offensive game plans I can recall. One real attempt down field all night (Squirrel over throw). No designed QB runs. No attempt to get Sampson involved in the passing game. Predictable play calling. The third and 11 run on our side of the 50 was just ridiculous.

I have never been a critic of Heupel outside of occasional clock management, but last night was plain bad.

I don’t disagree, but they’ve had 4 years to fix this. That’s on the staff at this point.

Agreed. Yet Ellarbee hasn't developed a HS kid that contributes, and he is still here.

Can someone definitely say with certainty who is actually calling the plays? We have a weird situation here where no one really seems to know.

This times 100!!! When your LT gets beat on 75-80% of his assignments there is not a play you can call that is going to be successful. The SEC is won in the trenches and our o-line got its @ss kicked Saturday night.

I don't understand why this is so hard for some to understand.
