Refs wasn't going to let Gumps lose. But, coach you have to know when to punt the Dang Ball! And how about getting creative on offense
Rather than punt, how about when it’s 4th and inches just snap it under center and plow forward. It’s nearly a gimmie first down. But no, we go shotgun and turn 4th and inches into 4th and 5 yards and some inches

I'm proud of Heupel and the team for fighting the entire game in an obviously rigged contest.

That being said Heup needs to stop rolling the dice so much on 4th down especially on our side of the field. I understand being aggressive and all but there's a reason we have a punter.
The flip side argument is that if you can’t pick up one yard do you really deserve to win?
Not saying yeah or nay; but if Heupel gets the first down on those two plays, everyone is lauding him as a fearless genius with a killer instinct. The one at midfield especially was a reasonable gamble IMO. You aren’t going to beat Bama in Tuscaloosa is a war of attrition. Go for the throat

Think of the practical impact though….it would guarantee that the officials would be out to get him for the rest of his career. And you might say “how would that be different?” And of course the answer is that one day in the future we might be one of those teams that it behooves the league to protect. Make your displeasure known in the proper channels; but public rants are your permanent ticket to the doghouse

Yeah it stinks; but there are some fights you just can’t win, especially in public. Besides, I am sure Heupel will utilize non UT proxies to make public headaches for the SEC over this while keeping his hands officially “clean”. Word gets around quickly in unofficial channels
Yes and that is how to do it. GBO

I don't have a problem going for it when or where he did. Bama came out and quickly seized momentum, and these things can steamroll
when you're playing a good team on the road, the crowd gets jacked up, etc. Heupel was trying to stop Big Mo before its steam engine was fully stoked. But for chrissake, just put your linebacker QB under center and plow forward a yard. It's not rocket science. It's scientifically guaranteed less risky than receiving the ball 4 or 5 yards behind the LOS and so now you've got to get 5 or 6 yards.

Thank you so so much for mentioning that!
Why in the name of God’s Green Earth do you call a play like that twice!
In my opinion, I believe Heup should try to dig up some old NFL film on Drew Brees’ proven ability to pick up the 1st down during a short-yard situation.
Drew was a QB Sneak Wizard!

Agree. Why is everyone so afraid of Saban / the refs / Alabama. Their whole state is the laughingstock of our nation. What is there to fear. Is Saban tied to the mob or Hillary? Doesn’t TN have boosters, moovers and shakers with a lot more clout than Alabama? Maybe a lot of other schools and influencers are also involved with this corruption.

Love the Killary mention!!

good entertainment. But taking the focus off of what you can control and putting it on what you can't simply sends the wrong message. The time to defend his players is during the game, and he does. He gives officials earfuls. He knows it doesn't do any good to complain now. The game is over. All he can do is control what his team does. Which tonight, there is a lot they didn't do.
The game is over, but all conferences will do what is needed to try and keep their CFP hopes alive. See which teams have the easiest path, watch their games, and see if the calls srent one sided.

Probably not as blatantly obvious as a 1 flag Bama game, but still there.

Yet when Saban blatantly broke the rule and went off on Jimbo, Sankey doubled down and broke the SEC's rule himself by refusing to sanction and penalize Saban. The Birmingham Alabama Office is corrupt to the core.

If you wanna go for the throat so to speak, you come out dropping bombs and get exotic in the 2nd half. Instead we went into a shell and turtled. Love Heupel, but he absolutely made some horrible calls.

We lined up in I formation last year and some under center we need to get back to that for the sake of the QB sneak and the push.

We started on the 4 because of a bullcrap ref call after a touchdown. If he would have done a pass and got sacked and fumbled or threw a pick six then you would be talking about that.

We will learn from this, I expect us to bounce back strong. We still have a lot of football left and a lot to play for. Everybody from staff and players made mistakes but we can and will bounce back. We have to develop a killer instinct and when we have somebody down we have to put them away. We have to do better on 3rd and 4th and short. We also have to do better in the redzone. We have to do better there. GBO

3rd down and red zone is where you see the difference between a mediocre QB and a good one.

None of us like to pay that $100 fine for speeding, either. Same for Heuple.

If we don't get under center and go for it on 4th and 1, then let's try a fake punt.

Once or twice I noticed very little pressure on the punter as the entire defense backed up for a return.

Question is why is he scared to say something?
Please don't tell me money
How is it we can talk **** about any president at any time but yet you can't speak of the refs?
Really chew on that awhile .Again it isn't me being a Tennessee homer ,I'm ****in tired of watching staged football games week in week out and no one says a word ..So this is no longer a sport , it's now sports entertainment just like WWE...
Not saying I am going to quit watching football. I like it too much. But it is going to slide down my list of priorities.

I see both sides of the argument. I liked going for it. After the first run up the middle didn’t make it, I try something else. Tennessee didn’t make it on 4th down with that up the middle stuff against Florida. Maybe cost them that game.

The more he and his coaches comment about the refs, the more his team will get the short stick rom the refs. Coaches can not make public comments about the refs. Comments have to be submitted by the University to the SEC. Apparently, only Saban can make public comments and not suffer.

Do you follow UT baseball? Tony V, Frank and a few of our players let their feelings be known and the rest of the year and the following season, the umps were none too kind to our program. Like it or not, that's a fraternity that guards its own. It won't change the game and there are channels that can UT can use, but nothing will be done publicly or privately so it is what it is. You go public/scorched earth on the refs and they'll exact revenge call by call, game by game until you cry uncle. In short, it's a pissing contest you can't win. Bama is bama and we aren't. Saban is saban and Heupel is...well...Josh. Trust this old man. This is nothing new.

I’m right there with you. I can’t continue investing too much time and emotion into this rigged crap.
The SEC, TV and NCAA don't give a flip about your time and emotion. It's money....always money. Bama is a national name headed for a possible playoff spot. All those entities will protect that brand when it's facing common programs like the UT, Auburn, Ole Miss of the football world.

No doubt. I’m just speaking personally for me. I get way too wound up at times, it’s bad for your health lol.
