So you’re going to look in the players faces that played those games and state that the games didn’t mean as much as other years. GTFO!

Hey Al Wilson, Eric Berry, Reggie White, Kieth Delong, Hacksaw Reynolds, Peyton Manning, Heath Shuler, Jamal Lewis, etc. your victories over Alabama mean less cause it wasn’t against Saban.

That’s right, kid.

I mean, Heup was gifted a Heisman caliber QB, a Biletnikoff winner, a top 10 NFL OT, and an NFL lockdown corner. 😂

Even counting 2021, the man has done wonders, and HE is our guy.

Year zero talk reminds me of Butch. 🤮

While Florida is a rival, I’m not giving him a ton of credit for going 2-2 against them. They’re an awful program right now. There’s still no excuse for 2023.
That’s like saying the gators or bama doesn’t count their streaks against us.. you most definitely count it

That’s actually amazing considering what he walked into.
4 wins 7 losses to this point against Bama, Georgia and Florida. Those are the ones fans care about the most
For reference, Kirby went 5-6 vs UT, Bama, and Fl in their first 4 meetings (3 for UT-Georgia since we have not played yet this year). And Heupel did it with walk-ons.

Kinda reminds me about the late 80’s through early 2000’s. Pat Dye retired and so did Vince Dooley. Ole Miss let Brewer go and LSU had Gerry Dinardo, a Vandy plant. Bama was rotating coaches and going in and out of Probation. Kentucky and Vandy were primarily basketball schools while USCe and Arkansas were trying to get their footing from ‘92 on. Auburn stole Tubberville and while he had a couple of good years including the undefeated ‘04 year, he wasn’t that great. Then you had us and a Spurrier led Florida tearing up the SEC. Other than us, and them, the SEC for the most part, was down.

So, wins over Bama back then didn’t mean as much as the ‘22 win. The ‘98 and ‘01 wins over Florida were more valuable than the last two. How many Georgia wins did we have over Jim Donnan and Ray Goff before Richt came in? IIRC, he beat us with inherited players his first year.

So, to answer your question, kinda. These wins are not the same as if we had beaten Saban more than once or Florida during the Urban years or, Auburn when the were playing for NC’s. We did beat a Les Miles LSU team once when they should have been playing for the NC.

Some truth but a few caveats:

1. Tommy Tubberville actually didn't join Auburn until 2000 and he had a lot of success there. He turned them into a force. They had 3-4 years of 10 wins and top 10 finishes with him including 2004 (2006 was a great year for example).

2. Alabama was pretty solid until 1996 under Gene Stallings. They won a National Title in 1992 and had 10 wins every season from1992-1996

3. I remember Georgia being some irrelevant at one time that we used to not talk about or be concerned about playing them right after Florida. We didn't really even take them that seriously. Heck, for a short period, we even marked Alabama down as a "W" during late 1990s through early 2000s.

Okay he beats them twice but "you aren't giving him credit". Makes total sense

I’m not giving him a ton of credit for having a .500 record against a program that will have a losing record over the last 4 years. I’ll give him tons of credit for other things though.

Bro have you watched us play Florida the past 30 years? We've had a ton of teams better than Florida by different coaches that inevitably lose that game. He absolutely gets credit for the wins against Florida regardless of how ugly they are

Ok bro. We can disagree. I’m ok with that.
