This team needs some fire ! If i was Josh today I would make it my goal to get thrown out. Start arguing balls and strikes early and often, show some fire and passion Josh ! Get in an umps face and get ejected. The team needs this badly before it's too late. GBO Let's F-EN GO !!!!

Won’t happen. Elander won’t receive an ejection in the next 5 seasons. It’s not in his nature. Ross will be the first Coach to get ejected followed by Jeroloman. Wouldn’t surprise me if Ross gets tossed today. He was close on those egregious non balk calls yesterday.

Someone in our dugout should have called the homeplate up out on chatting with Bianco 2 or 3 innings in a row , that’s not professional at all and he gives those guys extra time mound visits and follows out coach to the mound , I would have been 100% run yesterday, we’re hitting 233 as a team in league play and our bullpen is terrible but we’re busting at the seems with talent , believe that if you want too , we have been competitive for the most part , I do think Ole Miss is one of the better teams I’ve seen us play but this is the least productive team we’ve had in at least 5 years , maybe we can can scratch out 13 or 14 league wins

I agree it's not his nature, but you also have to lead to be a leader. You can't ask your players to play with fire and emotion when you don't show any yourself.
I hear you but not all head coaches need to be fiery. Multiple approaches can be successful. Elander is his own man and isn’t going to be fake in his leadership style. One of his strengths is he’s genuine and even keel.

Offensive timeouts are allowed and Bianco annoyingly seems to always use his allotment. Both those and mound visits are timed so no advantages there for Ole Miss.

Guys its not attacking JE when its said he needs to show more fire. This team just feels dead. They need something to spark them. The need someone to stand up and say i got your back. Maybe not the TV way but something. This team is just plain pathetic at the plate. We have no real dogs and we are getting chased out of our own yard. Its time someone stops and stands their ground. And if it means JE has to come out of his shell and get into an argument with an ump then it needs to happen. Or have one of the assistants get tossed. But dang it do something other than stand there scratching your head and your balls.

At this point the talent we have is fixed, can't change that. Now that we are in the back half of the regular season I feel like we have to try to change something or we literally are gonna go down swinging...Like everything else posted on here it's just my opinion but I do feel like seeing some fire and emotion from our head coach just might light the fire we need to get us to the post season. I feel like we have enough talent on the roster to compete and I like Josh as a coach, but I feel like this is a very critical moment for how our season will play out. Who's old enough to remember this quote and bonus points to name the movie and the actor.

"Hell I'd piss on a spark plug if I thought it would do any good !"

I said yesterday in another thread the team has no character. That was a lack of vocabulary issue. They have character but lack personality. No fire, no comebacks, they come in like lambs and go out the same way.
I see no one stepping up and taking a leadership role on the team. You need a leader or 2 on the field but unfortunately that is usually an upperclassman who has the personality and the skillset.

It is definitely a flat dugout. I’m far more concerned with the strength and nutrition program than the dugout out attitude. This team is just small and doesn’t look to have made gains with returning players.

As I said in another thread if you watch Tennessee Baseball for a month with no commentary you would not know who the HC is. Elander has no fight and it’s destroyed our psychological edge. He doesn’t have the players back like Tony had and the players don’t have his back like they did Tony’s. There is PLENTY of talent. Jay Abernathy is a damn good hitter. I don’t care about his average. Wright, Grimmer, Grindlinger, Marin, Ford… all VERY good hitters. Hopefully they’ll eventually be in a dugout with an alpha leader someday.

Josh needs to concentrate on replacing 7 returning position players!!! We need some offensive talent. Some need to be told its not working out, hit the portal.
I like a couple of the true freshman. Need to build on that. Talk more in detail after season is over. Need a couple of reliable closers. I think our weekend rotation for next year looks pretty good: Appenzeller, Khuns, Mack. This season is most likely toast. NCAA's is a real stretch for this team offensively.
Just my two cents......

I do not pretend to know all there is to know about the sport of baseball, but I do know some things about leadership. I know that when "the boss man" gets 'down and dirty' in an effort to support the ones looking at him/her it means something. Step out of your comfort zone Josh and show this group of very well paid kids that it's time to MAN up ! Every single one of them, and I wanna see you too Josh..Man up and light a freakin fire...You ain't making chump change either so let's freakin go. When what you have been doing isn't working you have to change. True in all aspects of life. If Josh throws the most monumental tantrum of all time and gets tossed in the first inning and we still get beat by 10 runs I will be just fine with it. Something monumental has to change one way or the other in these kids heads...Roll the dice and hope for the best.

Over usage of 'monumental' I apologize...

I still say it’s lack of experienced roster talent. Need to go back with high velocity pitchers and power hitters on the roster.

Agree 100 % I am sure all this comes from my impatience, but dang man history doesn't remember a lot of 'even keelers' they remember Liam Doyle, Mike Honcho, Christian Moore, Blake Burke and many others. I am just saying we need a spark right now for this season and I haven't seen a player yet step up to this role so Josh should try and be that spark. "Somebody gotta ride that donkey"

We do have offensive talent. They just aren’t playing with enough confidence. Easy to see. Unfortunately, it isn’t easy to fix. Best way I know to fix it is a fight. I have literally been punched in the mouth for slapping a teammate who wasn’t participating in dugout chants. We were down 6-2 in the 6th and he was pouting so I slapped him. He punched me in the mouth then immediately gave me a hug and told me he was sorry. I said something like “let’s freaking go dude!” Dugout came alive. Bats came alive. Think we still lost but the point is SOMEBODY has to be the spark to make people play with confidence. I wasn’t a good enough player to carry influence like that for the whole season. It’s better if it comes from a coach because coaches never strike out.

I agree that this team lacks a leader on the field. Unfortunately the leader types appear to be pitchers which can’t be your leaders. You need everyday players. This young team seems to be pressing and playing tight. That’s a recipe for disaster. Hopefully things change today
