Josh needs to get tossed...

At this point the talent we have is fixed, can't change that. Now that we are in the back half of the regular season I feel like we have to try to change something or we literally are gonna go down swinging...Like everything else posted on here it's just my opinion but I do feel like seeing some fire and emotion from our head coach just might light the fire we need to get us to the post season. I feel like we have enough talent on the roster to compete and I like Josh as a coach, but I feel like this is a very critical moment for how our season will play out. Who's old enough to remember this quote and bonus points to name the movie and the actor.

"Hell I'd piss on a spark plug if I thought it would do any good !"

I agree it's not his nature, but you also have to lead to be a leader. You can't ask your players to play with fire and emotion when you don't show any yourself.
I’m old enough to remember when the basevols were attacked in national media over its “antics” and many vol fans wished we’d tone it down and play with “some respect for the game.” Now that we play with “respect for the game” fans want the antics… lol

We do have offensive talent. They just aren’t playing with enough confidence. Easy to see. Unfortunately, it isn’t easy to fix. Best way I know to fix it is a fight. I have literally been punched in the mouth for slapping a teammate who wasn’t participating in dugout chants. We were down 6-2 in the 6th and he was pouting so I slapped him. He punched me in the mouth then immediately gave me a hug and told me he was sorry. I said something like “let’s freaking go dude!” Dugout came alive. Bats came alive. Think we still lost but the point is SOMEBODY has to be the spark to make people play with confidence. I wasn’t a good enough player to carry influence like that for the whole season. It’s better if it comes from a coach because coaches never strike out.
So if I read this correctly we need violence in the dugout? Or at a minimal ..Confrontation?

Hmm… why didn’t this work for the lady Vols this year. They almost had a duel at half court during the SC loss.

This team needs some fire ! If i was Josh today I would make it my goal to get thrown out. Start arguing balls and strikes early and often, show some fire and passion Josh ! Get in an umps face and get ejected. The team needs this badly before it's too late. GBO Let's F-EN GO !!!!

It's too bad JE didn't get tossed in Starkville. It would have really helped to get a series win and a sweep. Oh wait...

I'm not ready to say "fire josh". there are definitely concerns, but not with this young of a team.
And that is where we are at, a young team
go look at Christian Moore early years, there was clear growth from there to junior

Christian Moore:
Fr/So (2022-23): .305/.304 AVG, 10/17 HR, OPS 1.062/1.046.
Jr (2024): .375 AVG, 34 HR, OPS 1.248.

what we needed was for this team to keep their heads above water so Josh doesn't lose them while they improve. He has lost them several times this year in the 9th inning and on Sundays (See Georgia, LSU, and Ole Miss)
I am not sure where we will end up, maybe by the conference tournament or regional

And I am done with Blaine Brown for a few weeks, turning the channel when he comes up. I don't care who his daddy is, or what sort of snacks his mom brings to Josh and the team. He is good defense, but he is a head case at the plate, and acts like a toddler who didn't get his way when he strikes out. Not interested in his stats, they are nothing but vanity stats, case in point, his best play of the year so far is a grand slam on a game we lost 16-6 to LSU. They are babying him, and they should be benching him. He should be 7th batter at best if not benched. All he does is outs, ground out, fly out, strike out.
Every time Blaine walks back to dugout after he strikes out:

Last thing, and I imagine played a large role in prompting this thread, the umpires have ruined our pitchers outings multiple times this year. And the last two games have both happened
This is unacceptable
All umps are doing is trying to control the narrative so they can call a good strike out
Inconsistent calls for balls and strikes is not part of the game, or at the least, should not longer be part of the game
These drunk fat slob umpires are dinosaurs, get rid of them now
Bring in ABS to college baseball NOW

One thing I do agree with, if a piece of garbage human ump calls my pitchers strikes balls and ball strikes I am racing out there to give him a piece of my mind... seen this crap 5-6 games this year (important sec games)

You read correctly. It isn’t a magic pill or you’d just have players punching each other every day. I can’t explain it. If you know you know

Like Josh as a person but never wanted him as the HC. He coaches like his personality. He is very conservative and with the lack of hitting he needs to take some chances. With so many teams now using the shift I don’t understand hitters not learning to bunt or hit to the opposite side of the infield. Choke up and learn bat control. Striking out at a 20% clip never moves runners, basically no bunting, and rarely ( mostly luck) hitting to the right side to advance or score runners. And the strikeouts occur at the worst times with runners in scoring position.. Almost looks like players are looking for stats instead of playing baseball to win. As stated earlier the dugout looks deflated and almost lost. I don’t care if they win today I don’t see this team winning any series the rest of the season. We’ll see come tournament time if this team can come alive. If not, I’m wishing more than ever that they would’ve given Elander the title of interim head coach.

Agreed, I have no business as a college baseball coach nor do I aspire to be, at no point in this have I ever claimed to be. Just stated what I thought would send a message to our team. My stance hasn't changed even after today's glorious victory, I hope we continue to ride the path that got us to today no matter how we get there. As always...GBO 🍊 🍊 🍊

This is my opinion (I know, opinions are like A holes everyone has one 😉). I just doubt him being a very effective manager.

Pretty sure TV saw the writing on the wall with the character of this team and decided to bounce.

I get wanting to see someone get tossed and the umpires get tore up once in a while... but its worth nothing *MULTIPLE* crews that have come through LNS are still litigating the 2022-2024 seasons and looking for reasons to get picky.

There's small things like squeezing pitchers and things like that which are just part of it. But there's also the warning of the dugout if more than one guy steps out and/or sweeping them off the field, Umps staring into the dugout in between innings, the constant flat refusals to so much as explain a call (even when asked in a reasonable tone).

Hell, at one point early in non-conference, the 1B ump went to the crew chief who was at 3B to have a discussion. Comes back over and makes Kivett change his shirt (it was warm so he'd taken his sweatshirt off). 3 innings into a sunday and that's what they're worried about. Even the opposing dugout threw up their hands.

Getting tossed just to get tossed is likely just going to make it worse.

Won’t happen. Elander won’t receive an ejection in the next 5 seasons. It’s not in his nature. Ross will be the first Coach to get ejected followed by Jeroloman. Wouldn’t surprise me if Ross gets tossed today. He was close on those egregious non balk calls yesterday.
Even the announcers were losing it over the clear balks. I don't care if it is hard for lefty's to not balk. They dont get special treatment.
