From Memphis AD Tom Bowen, #FishNStats has learned that Memphis-Tennessee are in talks to continue series in both basketball and football.
this is what I've said all along...as long as UT offers a football contract, the basketball series will happen...Bowen will do whats best for the program...not just basketball...and he's the AD (boss)
Let's just put this all to rest and come to an agreement on one thing: Pastner's a puss.
Yes, and you have no idea how it happened. As I have been saying, UT could have said they won't consider football if and only if basketball is back. The fact that Pastner said, "We won't play as long as I am the coach and I make the schedule" is pretty telling.
Sorry but you have no idea..and frankly I don't either.
I think Pastner just received a lesson on exactly where he falls in the pecking order in this state.
it's a job...when your boss says "do this" you do it...even if you don't like it.
and where is that? Memphis got exactly what they wanted...a football contract out of resigning the basketball deal.
but if you want to celebrate this as some coup for UT...so be it...we'll take the $$$ and run.

No, I think this Steve Miller Band song epitomizes Tiger High's athletic dept better.

Sorry, don't understand. Why would he say that if he didn't believe it? Either communication failed again, or Bowen had second thoughts. That is why I don't believe football was a factor. Pastner legitimately believed that he didn't want to play the series anymore. Why would Pastner say that and take criticism publicly for a decision that is his boss'?
Look, we have been debated this for a long day, but it looks like it is moot now that something may get done. Again, I like Josh, but it's looks real bad when you say those things and then things change within a day.

Pastner wanted to end the series, period, end of story. I can pull his quote if you like. Yet, the series will continue. He was put back in his seat at the kids table. Spin that any way you want.
Lol, ok UT won the great series war!!! Kick the tires and light the fires...just be sure to pay 50 bucks per ticket to come watch your football team play in Memphis.
As I said offer a football contract and basketball will get worked out...what a shocker...I was right
