Josh Selby Update

I like the optimism, dickens, but I feel like the only person who could know for sure is Selby himself. And even then I'm not sure.

Selby obviously has to like something about Tennessee...he committed here once, and the situation has only gotten better. Nobody has left that wasn't expected to leave, we've gotten some more players for him to be around, we have the #1 PF in this year's class...star on the outside, star on the inside, experienced veterans, a coach that uses the strengths of his players....I mean, it's an attractive situation. But so is Kansas. And so is Kentucky.

We'll see on Saturday.

you know...the funniest ****ing thing possible....is that bruce and selby family arranged this whole drama on the recruiting end in order for when he finally announces UT there is enough written about him, talked about him, and whatnot that serious advertisement has been paid to not only his stock, but the stock of the University of TN.

I've thought about this before...CBP is a media whore (which I love about him)

Except for the **** part I thot the exact same thing when the girl interviewed him and he listed all his schools and then a second or two later nonchalantly said something like "Oh yeah, and TN too, don't wanna leave them out". It just appeared contrived.

I wondered is this kid playing a "Markeith Ambles" who committed to Layla's husband (never UT) and then teased us the weekend b4 signing day. I hope so.

what does everybody think of us winning the sec tourny and making to the final 4 or even winning it with or without selby?

Hypothetically speaking, how would Harris/Selby stack up to Wall/Cousins if we make the leap and assume we get them both? Harris isn't the beast Cousins is, but he's probably more skilled. Wall is outstanding but I heard people at the McD game say Selby was even more athletic. Not the same I'm sure, but it would be fun to watch.

I think people will be disappointed expecting Wall/Cousins type success.

A poster on the Vol boards on ESPN says its a done deal.. TIFWIW.

Actually, the guy on the ESPN board said that Selby committed to the Vols again two weeks ago.

However, he then said that the mother met with Cal and Kentucky without her son a week later and states the coaches believe that Selby is going to Kansas, for sure.

You can usually tell when internet guys are reliable or full of crap and this guy seems fairly reliable. If so, he states that Cal did a hard negative sell to his mom and that Selby's mom is dead set against her son going to UT, for whatever reason.

Ah, recruiting.

has anyone heard any concrete news about selby or all speculation?

I was told by someone with sources in the AD (by the way I hate the friend of a friend of a friend crap, but just thought I would put it out there) that he is ALL VOL! With that being said, he is "most of the time" spot on. But with teenagers who knows. I will just do like everyone else and cross my fingers untill halftime. TIFWIW

All these friend of a friend predictions sound eerily like the ambles situation. I dont thing anyone but selby and his mother know at this point. I hope we get him, but we wont know for sure until half time at the JBC and after he signs that LOI.

if you expect Wall/Cousins numbers you will be incredibly disappointed.

They won't be that good, but they won't really need to be if the other guys perform. By the end of the year, I think they should be playing well enough that UT is pretty good tournament team.

We had as much tourney success, but they still did win the Regular season and conference tournament title.

Good point, but im sayin that i would rather win a national title rather than an sec title. and yes i know thats not likely gonna happen
