It may now become more common for Juco grads to enroll at the 4-year school they originally signed with.Hate it for the kid.
Glad it happened to UA though.
Seems like when kids go JUCO, they don't often return to the school they initially signed with. I could be wrong on that. Anyway, hope he gives us another look in a year or two.
With the NCAA's new 25 signees per academic year limit, anyone who fails to qualify still counts against that year's signees limit. That effectively prevents the school he signed with from signing anyone else in his place. But according to NCAA rules, the school he originally signed with can take him when he graduates from Juco, without having to count him again against their annual 25 signees and initial counters limits. So the revised rules do sort of encourage the original school to take them after Juco.
That's correct.Encourages the school to sign them, yes. No enticement for the kid, though.
I didn't realize that Tidal. You do bring some decent information to the board every now and then.
NCAA Bylaws sections:
13.9.2.3 Limitation on Number of National Letter of Intent/Offer of Financial Aid Signings Bowl Subdivision Football. [FBS] In bowl subdivision football, there shall be an annual limit of 25 on the number of prospective student-athletes who may sign a National Letter of Intent or an institutional offer of financial aid and student-athletes who may sign a financial aid agreement for the first time. [D] (Revised: 4/26/17 effective 8/1/17 for signings that occur on or after 8/1/17)
13.9.2.3.1 Application. [FBS] A prospective student-athlete who signs a National Letter of Intent or an institutional offer of financial aid or a student-athlete who signs a financial aid agreement that specifies financial aid will be initially provided in the fall term of an academic year shall count toward the annual limit on signings for that academic year. A prospective student-athlete who signs a National Letter of Intent or an institutional offer of financial aid or a student-athlete who signs a financial aid agreement that specifies financial aid will be initially provided during the second or third term of the academic year may count toward the limit for that academic year or the limit for the next academic year. (Revised: 4/26/17 effective 8/1/17 for signings that occur on or after 8/1/17)
15.5.6.3.8 Returning Two-Year Transfer. [FBS/FCS] A student-athlete who previously was an initial counter and who transferred to a two-year college shall not be an initial counter upon return to the original institution.

So the revised rules do sort of encourage the original school to take them after Juco. Davis has the freedom go to any 4-year school at that point, but as normal he'll then count against the annual signee and initial counter limits at any school he goes to except UA.
That's correct.
I like how the NCAA designed the rules revision adding the 25 annual signees limit. It curtails oversigning, discourages schools from signing players who are high risk to not qualify and encourages the schools who did sign them to take them after juco.
It also helps encourage what's best for the student athletes' interests. If they want to be recruited and signed by a 4-year school, they'd better take care of their business in elementary, middle and high school. And if they're a high risk of failing to qualify, it probably is best that they go to juco and get better prepared to succeed in earning their bachelors degree.
I think the NCAA got it right in the way they designed the revisions adding the new 25 signees per academic year limit.
Apparently he was almost a Vol anyway, and Pruitt was the main reason he chose Alabama. So several guys on tos feel he will be a Vol next time around.
But Pruitt was hired 12.7 and JD signed 12.20. So if he loved the Vols but CJP was some deciding factor, seems like he wouldve been a Vol.
If you look at his twitter, he still seems loyal to UA.
I could be wrong but davis would seem to have interest but want to say mom was in so deep with Bama she kept shutting him down. Probably will be more open to us next tim

I've read that (according to Davis himself) he'll be on an academics plan to graduate from juco in Dec 2019 and then enroll at Alabama right away.Didn't get admitted to Alabama (huh?!). No longer part of their incoming class. He has already enrolled, and is present, at Copiah-Lincoln CC in Mississippi.
