Tennessee would love to add three to four defensive lineman down the stretch. A couple from the high school ranks and a couple from JUCO. Derrick Hunter from Hinds CC is an interior guy who is coming in this weekend and a name to keep an eye on.

Loved the visit. Loved how the DL played. Close with Omari Thomas. Going to OV here in December. Has a few more visits lined up.

He also talked a lot about the locker room atmosphere after the game. He was impressed by how everyone celebrated together (coaches, offense, defense, specialists, etc.). He stated how it is truly a family and implied that he's never seen it on that level before. He also was impressed with Heupel being a bona-fide player's coach.

Portal guys are oftentimes soft and entitled and are in the portal because they wanted playing time they weren’t earning elsewhere. JUCO guys have been in the gutter and are usually hungry and aren’t as entitled. There are exceptions to both, but I’ll trust this staff’s evaluation when it comes to DL regardless of where they’re coming from

I’m not doubting Garner at all. You can have that.


All I know is this kid was a consensus 4 star DL with offers from every big time school you can think of out of high school. He got moved to OL and he went JUCO. It’s not like Jimbo knows what he’s doing anyways. Our guys do.
