'19 JUCO LB Lakia Henry (Former UT commit)

You know the thing that I miss most of all, is the freedom of the rivers and the pines, they don’t do much huntin and fishin up here you know, but I have met a few squirrels and one porcupine

New article up on 247 says Alabama still in hunt for him despite his commitment to the Vols.
For now Bama will probably continue to recruit Henry, but they're not pushing for him. They like him a lot, but are in good shape right now with the two additional ILBs (Shane Lee is already committed) they want. I dont have any feel for whether he's a high priority for UGA or ATM.

Of he course he's not a "high priority" for UGA or ATM and why yes he's down on y'all's boards....... Of course he is. He's committed to the BIG ORANGE so no one else really wants him that bad. 😉🙄🤫🤭🤥

I stated that I don't know if he's a high priority for UGA and ATM. What I stated regarding Bama is consistent with what I posted on page 3 of this thread on May 10 before Henry was committed to the Vols. Here's a copy of that post:
Lakia Henry is VERY good and he's physically ready to be a starting SEC ILB. He'd be a GREAT get!

UA likes him a lot and vice versa and ILB is also a BIG need in this cycle. Some in the recruiting media predict he'll go to UA, but I don't think so. UA will take 3 ILBs. Shane Lee is committed, and UA is in great shape to land Nakobe Dean and Christian Harris. Since all 3 of them are also physically ready for SEC play, I think Henry is 4th on their board.

ETA: To be more clear -- It's not that Henry is viewed as the 4th best ILB among those 4 guys. Dean is the best. The other 3 are fairly equal. It's more a case of not needing to take a Juco in UA's situation. If Bama misses on one of those 3 they'd push hard for Henry.
At this point, I don't know for sure whether Henry would be Bama's top ILB target if they miss on one of those 3. It's because there are also a few other ILBs that they're recruiting but not pushing for. It may not even matter, since they're in good shape with their top 3 ILB targets.

I wasn't dissing Henry. He's very good. I was simply sharing info I figured Vols fans would appreciate.

Yeah I was actually hoping someone would share the content to see if it was just a general "no shi*" article or if there were actual quotes from him. I should have been more clear...
Key segments:
“They still want me to come check out the place,” ... he talks with Golding once every two weeks... “It’s a really good football program. It’s something you really have to consider... I want to get a feel for the place and all that good stuff."

“The relationship with the coaching staff,” Henry said of why he chose UT. “I feel like they’ve got everything really planned out on what they’re doing trying to turn around the program.”

Along with Alabama, Henry says he still plans to visit Texas and Texas A&M as well.

“Tennessee set a really high bar,” Henry said of what would have to happen to change his mind. “If another school can top that off, then I mean, they would be neck and neck. I just have to weigh out all my options.”

Do the other Bama posters shun you at social gatherings? Because you do it the right way on another team’s board? :good!:

You bring your perspective AND retain your fanship. Simplicity works.

TS had that bookmarked and ready to use against you. Let that be a warning to ever complimenting a Gump again.

 Nah, it was just luck. This morning I was looking for the post I had done in early May about Bama not being likely (imo) to push hard for Henry, because I wanted to quote it in responding to FiremedicVOL127, who seemed to have misinterpreted the post I made yesterday (see above). When I found my older post (back on page 3, May 10), I saw the complimentary posts of butchna's that he had made in response to it.

If I post good news for Vols fans, congrats on a win or commit, etc., then I'm good guy (for a Bammer), but if I post published information or state an opinion that's not what most Vols fans want to hear, then I'm a bad guy. But that's just typical human nature reactions common among fans of rival teams. I try to not get pulled into banter with Bama haters. Hate is a terrible waste of energy and nothing good ever results from it.

I was really proud of myself for believing in the good of the inbred.

You are posting on a board that is completely full with thousands of Bama haters and you don't want to get pulled into banter?...I call BS.

one of my personal favorites in this juco class, henry fits the mold of new-age linebackers that every team wants. He’s a ball magnet that can run and cover like a safety. Henry, the tennessee commit, is highly instinctive and his speed to get to the ball-carrier is unmatched. As a smaller linebacker, he stays ahead of blocking schemes to not get engulfed by linemen in the running game. Henry really explodes through ball-carriers when he arrives to make contact. You can use him out in space to carry vertical receivers downfield as he’s very effective on passing downs. Henry was an unheralded recruit coming out of vidalia, ga., in 2017.
