'19 JUCO LB Lakia Henry (Former UT commit)

I remember reading not that long ago (hell it might've been this thread - too lazy to scroll back) that the staff was re-evaluated his film after a subpar sophmore campain.
That was in the football thread here in the RF, and it was someone saying Tony Basilio's "recruiting expert" "X" said that.

Four-star Tennessee linebacker commitment Lakia Henry of Dodge City (Kan.) Community College still isn’t planning to sign this week during the early signing period, but another legitimate threat to the Vols emerged over the weekend when he went on an unofficial visit to Florida State and came away with an offer from the Seminoles. His mother and grandmother accompanied him on the visit, according to sources, and he’s expected to return to Tallahassee, Fla., next month on an official visit.

Before Henry’s trip to Florida State, Arkansas appeared to be Tennessee’s primary competition for him. But the Seminoles had shown interest in Henry over the past few weeks, and it wasn’t a surprise to see them officially join the race for him. With Florida State being relatively close to home for the Vidalia, Ga., native, the Seminoles could prove to be just as much of a threat as the Razorbacks. He previously said academics were part of the reason he planned to wait until February to sign, but he also intends to continue exploring other options.

depends on needs and a couple other lbs but yeah I'd like to.
some of hte LB dominos that are falling don't give me the warm fuzzies.

Chris Russell, L. Henry, H. to'oto'o and Crouch would be a fantastic haul.

take Lakia and To'oto'o out of that equation and we still have a big need, and i'm not sure where we go after that??

Possibly Pettway, but having slow played the kid, he's not a guarantee either. We've lost out on Pappoe and Marshall. Odds are not currently in our favor for To'oto'o. I think that makes it more important we keep Lakia, but that's sounding less promising with the FSU interest, IMO.

yep. LB is a concern. no doubt.

So we were hoping to trade up on Lakia but options didn’t work out. We could be SOL
yup. i think, though, with the way things were looking with Pappoe, we were probably ok to do so. that changing on a dime like it did, that hurt. and now with Lakia Henry getting plenty of attention, it'll be a fight to hold on to him.

so come NSD in feb, we could find ourselves SOL....or looking really, really good at LB.

i don't see there being much in between.......but, things change. new names unfold. who knows.

i do think we put a lot of eggs in the lakia henry and henry to'oto'o baskets tho, and take big swings on both.

If he has terrible grades, then how the heck is he getting in at FSU? Admissions absolutely despises the football program and getting them to let in bad students usually involves more begging than a guy after prom. There’s something else going on here.

I wouldn’t doubt he’s floating the grades issue to maybe look around. Sad thing is the only places returning his calls are places in as bad as shape as we are.
