He may be a take, but him publicly committing right now may mess something up with someone else we're in with. They may just want him to hold off on announcing. Just a thought.

It just didn't seem kosher to me. We're on a recruiting roll, still in on a number of top recruits wth only 4-5 spots left available (unless you open some places up with things like grey shirts, which also sounds doubtful since you're borrowing from your future numbers, or you're going to push out some guys where you offered and accepted their commitments, which always looks bad) and you're going to take a juco?

I'm guessing they offered early (which seems part of the game now, where you offer 40-50 guys early, but it's conditioned on mutual agreement unless the player accepts on the spot), the kid waited and then, without telling the coaches, he commits. But by that time we no longer want him.

Tennessee gave out over 400 offers this cycle lol.

Yes he was...and is. Currently on my Bears roster. Don’t know if he would have fared as well in Knoxville. Kansas State could coach up some DB’s. We have a couple of UDFA’s that made it despite Will Martinez.

Well, anybody who wants to be a Vol has to be a pretty good dude, so I'm going to be kind and reserve any negative criticism. He may actually be really good but our expectations for closing on this class has us looking at all the high profile high school kids. I appreciate Mr. Gordon's desire to be a Vol which demonstrates his good taste and wish him a lot of luck however it all ends up.

This is good news if you look at a couple of ways:

- We obviously feel good with where we are on our other DL targets. (Page, Ritzie, Bell, etc.)

- Pruitt also feels comfortable with who we have remaining after this year. You typically only pursue JUCO kids if you are trying to plug an obvious hole. This kid was our top JUCO DL so it’s a good sign we “passed”.

This. A Tennessee "offer" doesn't mean a whole lot atm. It depends if we send you a written offer over the Summer (August 1st iirc) or keep in close contact and relay you have a commitable. We aren't sending 400-500+ commitable offers a year in advance lol.
