'19 JUCO WR Javonta Payton (Tennessee commit)

Why do you guys care about the numbers???

The class will be what it is.

And it will be awesome.

We didn't come here to play math.

I'm not disagreeing it will be awesome, we just don't know who will actually be in it. We care about numbers because the NCAA says we have to. We all want players like Wright, Crouch, and Bogle to be part of this class but spots are filling up quick. It's becoming more likely that other players will be processed if these guys want in. So who gets processed? It's all about anticipation. We know when Christmas morning comes it'll be great, but we still want to know what it is we're getting.

I always love the rob Peter to pay Paul mentality this board has.
It’s maddening. “We’ll make room”. I’ll enjoy who we end up with as much or more than any poster, but knowing this animal, we’re going to hear incessant whines over who we “passed” on. 😣

Got 21 spots. I previously said 22 but forgot to add Bryce Thompson to Kennedy, George and Davis.

All the new NCAA math confuses me. Did losing Lawless effect the numbers for this year?

Wasn't it Callahan or someone from VQ that said they're doing everything they can to get 25 in this class?

I think they'd know better than most of us.
I’m sure they did “everything” last year. And we still had 23 signees credited to the 18 class.

So if I'm understanding correctly we will take 21 this year and if we get any transfers in 2019 those will count against the 2020 class

I have complete trust the coaches will craft the class they want. I just want to know what they want and how they plan on getting it, lol. It's human nature. I think some of the players currently committed, some that others are even excited about, very well might not be part of the final class simply because of numbers. Still, I think wherever we end up, needs will be filled as best as possible and our class will be just fine.

That’s how it works. Don’t know when regular transfers started counting against 25’s rather than the 85, but that’s the case.

Personally, I think counting transfers against the 25 is stupid. I'm okay with limiting the amount of transfers a school can take if that's the issue, I just don't think they should count against the 25.

No argument. Was never aware of any mass exodus of a roster...other than programs under discipline. Maybe that’s where it got started.

So with 4 true spots left, we're still looking at wanting Wright, Crouch, Bogle, Hill, Bush, Moore, and a handful of others. That's why people stress over math. I'm sure the staff will find ways to be creative, but we still won't get everyone in. Sacrifices will be made. Some currently committed will be processed, and some will be grade casualties, but we will fall victim to the math. Doesn't mean we won't have a great class. Just means we won't get everyone we want.

Can anyone explain to me how Bama fans say they are taking 28 this class? I thought you couldn't go over 25. This stuff is so confusing.

I believe UGA took 27 but that was in anticipation of several not qualifying. Couple of processed JUCOs later and they’re fine. Don’t know what happens if their calculations tank. They had a full 25 to play with tho iirc.

Didn’t last year. They desperately used every other option to improve the roster, why did they only have 23 players credited to 2018?

Because we missed on guys and he saved spots for grad transfers etc after NSD. I don't even care about numbers. They will find a way to get the guys they want simple enough whether it puts them at 21 to 25 I don't care. Not worth worrying about every ye like people do. They aren't turning down big targets

You have gotten very lebvol lately and it worries me.
When I start whining about gitshirting, I’ll go halfsies on a therapist. Until then, bringing up our numbers situation when there’s talk of taking on two or more WR’s in a class with very little leeway is perfectly warranted.

Exactly! He saved his last two SPOTS on grad transfers. Chryst and London made it 23! If there was a way around that number, why not add two more players? Because they COULDN’T. They couldn’t “find a way” then and it’s foolhardy that they’ll “find a way” now. Hard decisions coming up...big boy stuff.

I think the Pruitt and Fulmer are just going to send the NCAA a few 6-packs of Bud Light and that whole “25 signing limit” goes out the door.
