Is it that some commenters in this thread don't know about the transformation in both party ideology and makeup during the 20th century?

Is it that some commenters in this thread know about the transformation but don't understand the extent to which it affected American politics?

Or is it that some commenters do know and understand, but feign ignorance in an attempt to bait and harass other members?

There are a couple of other options. Like for one some parties claiming some ideological transformation in the 20th century while the rest of us look at their actions and know their claims are hollow and continue to point that out. Yes I used plural parties.

It's not only ideological transformation. The Democrat and Republican parties both used to have conservative and liberal membership equally in their ranks. It allowed for much more diversity of thought within the party ranks.
