So earlier this season I was flipping around the ESPN channels and came on a women's game, #1 UConn vs #2 Baylor (I think) with UConn's streak on the line, UConn up by 1, maybe 45 seconds left, so I figure what the hell, I'll watch the end of it. UConn's got the ball, maybe 10 seconds more on the game clock than the shot clock. So UConn brings it up with a chance to go up by 3, they dribble around, and a UConn player takes a 17 footer with a few seconds left on the shot clock. Airball. Baylor rebounds, brings it up, down one with a chance to win on the last shot. They pass it around and a Baylor player gets a wide-open look from about 20 feet to win. Airball. This is #1 vs #2, a game ESPN wouldn't shut up about all day, and it ends on two freaking airballs. This is women's basketball.
I'm proud of the Lady Vols' success, I wish them the best, but the sport is unwatchable. I can make myself sit through a national championship game when they play in it, sort of, but I need a whole lot of beer and something to read while the game is on.
