I'm a football fan first but sometimes I really wonder about Vol fans that treat the LV like the redheaded stepchild of UT sports. Right now LV basketball and softball are about the only squads we have with legit shots at NT's and who's reputations aren't mud.
I got far more excitement out of making the Elite 8 last year than I did with any of the LV's championships.that's not what i was trying to say at all.
my point was that a national title in a sport (in this case women's basketball) has more meaning than an elite 8 appearance in men's hoops.
i was providing an example of what a secondary level of achievement is in various sports. for baseball, the equivalent of the final four is the college world series. and so on, etc, etc, etc.
i was trying to illustrate that the elite 8 isn't even a secondary achievement for college basketball. the final four is.
to provide an example of just how insignificant the elite 8 is from an achievement stand point.....i will list the following.......
clemson
boston college
virginia tech
miami
texas a&m
missouri
nebraska
texas tech
south florida
northwestern
arizona state
mississippi
alabama
auburn
tennessee
vanderbilt
south carolina
these 17 schools are the only schools from BCS basketball conferences that have not made the final four. the other 56 schools from the BCS conferences for basketball have made the final four.
the elite 8, while great, is not a meaningful accomplishment. most of the people in this thread would rather have an insignificant achievement over a national title.
i would take the national title.
now, i know this comes with a certain perspective. a national title in women's basketball would mean something. we've never had one. tennessee's had one to two million and so they don't have as much meaning anymore.
i like to see my school win as many they can in as many sports as they can. obviously, a football or men's basketball title holds a more special place of pride.
its true if dunks where taking out all of you downing womens sports would be downing mens bb
I like and support the UT Vols Lady Vols Basketball team. Been a fan for a long time. I watch some other teams play when I can catch them online. I enjoy watching many of the different Vol sports teams. But, I know that everyone isn't in to everything from the Hill. People are different so we have available a variety to choose from.
I bet you're one of the people who think the UCONN women could make the men's NCAA tournament and that Cheryl Miller and Candace Parker could play in the NBA.its also sad that people think womens sports dont matter.mens basketball is all dunks and show.womens is about skills, and fundementals of the game
I bet you're one of the people who think the UCONN women could make the men's NCAA tournament and that Cheryl Miller and Candace Parker could play in the NBA.
I support them too, but to pretend that the game is more competitive or as popular than the mens game(as a poster has done) is absurd and without any merit

Probably only a hand full of people live in that world. I don't. But, some posters (not talking about you here) try to demonize and marginalize LV fans. I don't get that part. It's all fun and games. We're all Vol fans.:good!:
uconn women stink i cant say work i want too lol,and there are some female players that could play way better than some of the men in the nbaI bet you're one of the people who think the UCONN women could make the men's NCAA tournament and that Cheryl Miller and Candace Parker could play in the NBA.
ive seen more softball games then mens bb.i cheer for all vol teams from football to golf, and if any team had a chance to win a title for the university id want that to happen then like say an elite 8 which means nothing if you think about it.its not a title
