That e-mail take 1 instance (and the news covered it, I believe), and says he ALWAYS does this. LOL

Pictures are funny things though. They only capture a tiny moment in time. If there's a video of Obama keeping his hands down during the pledge, I'll call foul and add something else to criticize him about. The above picture is meaningless without additional context.

why does it look like one horrific photoshop job of adding that flag in the background? also why is no one facing it?

It appears that there is a flag off to the side that they are looking at . . . except for Bill Richardson. When do the "Richardson never faces the flag during the Pledge of Allegiance" e-mails will start?

i noticed that too. It appears as if out of 4 people, they are looking at 3 different flags and no one notices the great big one behind them. Of course, I still contend it wasn't there in the first place for them to look at.

Actually, I believe ABC News had a video and confirmed he did not salute or pledge or whatever else.

It blows my mind that people actually buy into this stuff. You can spot these urban myth e-mails from a mile away. They all sound the same.

I personally think that putting your hand over you heart during the pledge should be replaced by the 3 amigos salute after the pledge.

As many people as there are that screw up the pledge and national anthem, they might as well.

Actually if anything, we are probably a little more united than we were in the 1800's. Back then every time there was a difference, people wanted to secede from the union. It seems like every decade there was some crisis causing a group of states to rally behind secession. Only on rare occasions can you actually say America is a united country - Pearl Harbor, 9/11, etc. It's the great thing about this country - we're founded on individual thought and disunity and the freedom to continue being that way. Frankly I'm a little nervous when you have everyone lock-step devoting themselves to the nation-state. Compare devotion to the nation-state to that of Cuba, Nazi Germany, USSR, etc. I may not agree with some of the dissenters but count me in for the ability to dissent.

I was best man at a wedding where the preacher mistakenly turned the Lord's Prayer into the Pledge:

"...for thine is the Kingdom, and liberty and justice for all. Amen."

I about hit the floor :ermm::eek:hmy:
