Hart was the AD who put Fisher at coach in waiting, people give a lot of crap to Jimbo but you have to think that program was kind of like the end of ours with Phillip Fulmer, it was stale. Jimbo has went 30-10 which is a lot better than we have been going and also it might give us that Florida connection we need to pull a few big boys from the state. Also, FSU will be playing in their first BCS bowl game since 2005 with Fisher.

strong is ok.. but IMO he is a bigger risk than Fisher. This is his first good season and he lost to ucon and syracuse this year. Not saying there would be no risk with Fisher there definitely would be. I just think its less risky with fisher..

Technically, the regular season is over for most D1 teams. Although the FCS teams are in the middle of playoff games. I don't know if their playoff games are treated like still regular season or bowl games. FSU regular season is over. However they do have a bowl game against Northern Illinois, I think! Man, if we have to wait until all bowl games are completed, we ARE sunk! If we have hired Jimbo Fisher, I can get jiggy with that! It would certainly be logical to hire, whoever we are going to hire THIS WEEK!

I dont see this angle due to them having T Boone pouring money into the program. I think its largely the AD and lical media he is constantly in turmoil with. Add that he will always play seconf fiddle to OU in his own state. Even though UT is down, its still an upgrade job

Fisher was at LSU with Saban and Miles first two years. He was part of multiple 11 win teams and a NC team. Not sure what you're meaning or talking about.

Yea I agree who wants a coach who won a NC as a OC and won a Conference title as a HC with a team who hadn't win it in 5 years, regardless of who he played and how they won. When was the last time UT won a Conference title?

Fisher spent 5yrs under Saban.. I thought we were trying to distance ourselves from that connection. Gruden is the closest thing we have out there, excluding Cut, that is in the TN family. We need to get back to our roots. Worked pretty well for about 80yrs. Do not want.

couple you guys mention tressel.. i have said he would be a good hire simply cause he is a winner and he will most definitely recruit well... i know he has the 5 year show cause which makes him not ideal for the hire. but if jimbo strong and gundy fall thru. he seems to be the best pick... realistically tennessee wouldnt be national title contenders in the first few years anyway.. i say it would be an awesome hire to land tressel.. he would build the program up and bring it back to the sec championship game. if dave hart wants to immediately win and recruit this is ideal..

So let me get this right, From 2010-2012 we go 15-21 over all and 4-19 in Conference and lose the only bowl game we go to with Dooley and yet at the same time 2010-2012 Fisher goes 30-10 over all and 18-6 in Conference and 2 bowl victories including one over a 9-4 South Carolina team in 2010 that beat us 38-24 and beat Notre Dame last year in a bowl game and he is a horrible hire. Looks like a huge upgrade compared to what we have been hiring lately.

Forgot to add Fisher has a Conference division title in 2010 and a Conference title this year. How long has it been since we have had either one of those?

For those posting he can't beat Florida, FSU is 2-1 against them with Fisher as HC. The one loss was this year against a Florida team that beat everyone else except USCe.

Good thing Bama went and got someone from the family in Saban. Good thing LSU brought Les back home.

We do not need someone with TN ties to be successful. No one else does it and its worked out just fine for most everyone else.
