Just rewatched the Tennessee/Bama game

Watching last years games, I've been sobered at how often we benefited from the other team's key injuries. Expect this season to be a tougher row to hoe. A lot of things fell our way (for a change) last season.
😂😂 what key injuries? Everybody’s best players played against us? Pittsburgh was the only game we “benefited” from injuries. And that was because our pass rush kept Slovis on his back all night.

Yea I’m not sure what that person is talking about. We played half the year without Tillman and multiple DBs out and the last 2 games without our starting qb. Who did we face without their key starters?

So what your saying is even the dog was experiencing emotional swings just like every other vol fan.

I think he has PTSD from this past football season.

He was born during the early Botch years and suffered through the Pruitt regime. Heupels first year was fun, but we were an average team. In short, until last year he had never experienced a season where UT was supposed to be good and had to back it up.

Last year was serious lol. First time he has seen that in his lifetime.

Get'em a thunder jacket!

Lol. While he's not a poodle, I did get him one for fireworks when he was a pup. He barks at them a time or two when they start but then just ignores them. So basically, the Thunder shirt was pointless and ended up getting donated to Goodwill sometime around 2017 ha ha

Not sure. Alabama had their 3 best guys. Georgia was healthy, LSU was healthy, Kentucky had a banged up Levis but it wouldn’t have mattered. Mizzou was healthy and Vanderbilt is Vanderbilt…. Have no clue what he’s talking about.

I remember telling someone that after 455 yards, 2 TD, 0 INT and escaping about 8 sacks like a magician that Bryce Young was probably thinking "what more do I have to do to win this game....play defense?"
I am glad he was not the kicker or Tennessee was a beat a**. Young can play.

Yes. The trip from despair after we gave up the scoop and score late as well as the called back Bama interception because of pass interference to the jubilation after that winning field goal was short and steep
When the INT happened, I calmly walked out of the room and sat in the dark in my bedroom. A few minutes later my son told me they called PI. Unbelievable.

I didn’t leave the room; but I got that cold „not again“ feeling in the pit of my stomach. It took some guts for the officials to actually throw that flag against Bama with the game on the line

It’s amazing the emotional swings a person can have even when you know the outcome. I’m glad Bryce Young is gone and I hope our defense has improved. 🤣
If Bryce doesn’t play, it’s a blowout. That 28-10 quickly becomes 42-10 by halftime with Milrose.

There were plays that Bryce made to where you could only tip your cap too. Very few QBs in the country could pull some of them Houdini moves and find someone open.

I’ll also add, IMO, without Bryce last year that’s a 7- 8 win Bama team.

Tennessee with a no time left field goal. Amazing everytime I watch the outcome is the same. Saban losing it when his player tries to pickup punt and we recover. I thought he might have a cardiac right there and then...
I'm not sure the player was actually going to pick it up . Page pushed the player before he reached the ball. I know he ran to the ball and started like he was picking it up but we stopped for a split second then Page shoved him great play from Page

Since he's gone, I'll write this blasphemy. Watching that game made me wonder if BY was not the absolute best QB I have ever seen in my 58 years on this earth. Watched Marino, Tebow etc etc. Watching what he was able to do in that game alone was literally unreal. Literally. He's like Roger "the Dodger" Staubach on steroids. Complete ice in his veins in a wild environment.

Here were some I remember from watching this game 2 or 3 times ...
That play where he juked Beasley out of his shorts twice in a crazy scramble ending with a dart for 1st Dn or TD(?) was just magical. Then the play where he scrambles, eventually sprints right 15 yards out of the busted pocket, slams on the brakes, then perfect gets his balance and feet under him and throws a dart for a 1st down was mind boggling. Finally that short TD from about the 5 or 10 YL where he scrambles, then runs right toward the goal line, stops on a dime, the pass defense all collapses to stop him from scoring a run TD, it's absolute chaos is in every direction yet he softly and with perfect touch flicks an impossible to drop pass to the TE Lattu(sp?) standing now wide open in the middle of a crowded end zone. Jaw dropped on floor!

Honestly, I can't think of a player with the presence of mind, skill, and athleticism of that kid. I cannot say enough about how happy I am that he went to get paid millions in pro football. Had Bama played the backup, we probably win that game by 2-3 TDs with the energy and focus our players, fans, and staff had that night. He and that friggin' RB from Dalton, GA were spectacular ... until they weren't on their next to last offensive play ... :-D

Best COLLEGE QB. Because of his lack of size, he struggle in the NFL. Not to say he won't become a good NFL QB, he won't be an All-Pro.

A victory in Tuscaloosa just might be the tsunami that washes Saban into retirement. He won’t retire because he wants to. He’ll retire because the spoiled whiny arrogant entitled bandwagon fan base that IS Bama football will be so vocal about it he’ll be forced to say, I’m done with this lot.
When they can’t blame the refs, they’ll blame him.

It would be nice but I am not holding my breath. It will be a tough game.

We need to also win in Gainesville first. Something we haven't done sine 2003.

I can't recall specific players. Obviously the Pitt game. But it was like an accumulation of data from sideline reporters in each game, talking about some key player--usually a defender--who couldn't go today or in the second half. Kentucky's defensive qb, probably a linebacker... Missouri... Florida... I just remember at some point that I was hearing that pretty regularly.

Except UT-Martin.

But my point was, we had a special season where we got more breaks that we're used to getting at Tennessee. That doesn't mean we didn't earn our wins. It doesn't mean we won't repeat those wins. But luck is a huge factor for any team pursuing a NC. We'll get our share of good and bad luck, and in a couple more years, we'll have the depth to absorb more injuries without missing a beat. But nothing is guaranteed.

But one thing's for sure already with this team: to a man, I believe we have the character to respond to adversity with grit and resolve.

I have watched the FL, Bama, Clemson games and found myself thinking the same. Nice to look back on a good season.
I threw in the Pitt game (coach is still arguing that Bru wasn't pushed out ) and the KY game where we learned how to play "real" football...damn it feels good to be excited about UT football again.

I just said College. That has nothing to do with whether he busts or becomes the GOAT in the NFL. For some thier game translates for others, no. Tee Martin couldn't make the NFL cut, but I would take no other for that 98 college season.
