UGA? Even they were kinda on a roll at the time, and we didn't have Golden.

True. They were in the midst of a four game winning streak when they caught us without Golden. It is still viewed as a bad loss by the selection committee, as it should be. You have to hold serve at home against average/below average teams.

I just wish we had the GA game back--with Trae. That one hurt.

I know. 17-9 just looks better on paper/typed out than 16-10 does. It also eliminates our only real "bad loss" from our resume and would allow a little more leeway down the stretch.

GA has bumped their RPI about a hundred points since they beat us.
Sitting at 124 now, so not that bad.

A couple of missed foul shots cost us that game. We make those 2 at the end of the game, we win. Make 1, get into OT.

Not totally disagreeing with you but we only scored 36 points! There was far more than a couple of missed free throws that cost us that game. The Georgetown loss and the UVA loss hurt simply because we could score...at all! Games looked like a High School JV score :-(

True, but a loss at home to a sub-100 RPI team with an overall losing record (13-14) won't inspire confidence in the selection committee. It is still a black mark against us and our resume.

Pardon my skepticism, but this reeks of "Haha, I was just kidding" to save face in light of an otherwise ridiculous statement.

I stand by my statement. I did forget about Memphis and Virginia is turning out to be a pretty good team but the early stretch of conference play was bad with the exception of losing the Kentucky at Rupp. Ole Miss is not a good team. If Cuonzo had down a scouting report on Henderson, Richardson could have shut him down like he did against Turner on Saturday (Richardson should have been guarding him the whole game, McBee guarding him almost cost us the game). Arkansas is not a good team. Alabama is not a good team. Georgia is a bad team.

Turner had very few good looks against McBee. Most of his shots McBee was right in his face, hands in his face, etc that Turner just happened to keep hitting. Turner looked like Lofton. I'd take that effort from McBee every day, along with Martin's judgement over yours.

I'm not saying that the Georgia loss is damning evidence against our chances, if that's the way it sounded. I'm just saying that despite a pedestrian RPI of 124, they still beat us at home and currently have a losing record. There's really no good way to spin or excuse that. Golden, or not. We had no business losing that game. As of today, it's the only game I can look at and call a "bad loss" as defined by the selection committee.

If we win out (as you have detailed), that loss likely won't make a difference anyhow.

There were some bad losses early when weren't playing worth a crap, and there have been some great wins lately since the light has turned on. Tale of 2 teams. Hope they keep it going and make a nice tourney run. The calvary's coming next year.

Doesn't the NCAA tourney committee weigh what you did at the end of the year more than the beginning and also take into account injuries? For example, if we beat Ole Miss last year in SEC tourney, then I think we were in. I think adjusting to no Maymon and playing better at end of year obviously help us, but still have to find a way to at least get to 20-21 wins to have a legitimate shot IMHO.

So, you mention one good loss ( GTown), but forgot to mention, but have now remembered to mention, Memphis, Virginia, and UK@Rupp? And Alabama was "questionable" in your original post, but now that loss doesn't count either?

Sorry, but you are all over the place, and you seem to place value solely on the losses that fit your agenda.

Arkansas at home, is nearly unbeatable this year. In fact, they have lost once, to #6 Syracuse. They have an average margin of victory at home of 17 ppg overall, and 10 ppg in conference play. Had we lost to them at home, I'd agree with you. They rolled Florida by 21 points in Fayetteville, so to minimize that loss as some sort a black mark on our record is silly.

Don't think we'll get much help from Jesus.

Committe has said they take injuries into account, now usually it's for stretches of games, but hey...our worst loss came without trae. This hasn't been mentioned, but maybe the committe looks at how we are playing WITH trae and says hey they beat that UGA team with him.

Putting it on UGA in Athens would help strengthen that argument.

Did anyone watch the game? Richardson had 4 fouls from 17:00 on in the second half. Absolutely clueless post.

Not so clueless when he's right. About that game only.
Richardson played the last 2 ots with 4 fouls and gave up 4 points to turner.
McBee was usually laying at his feet as he shot.

What CAvol's saying is that Richardson picked up his 4th foul early in the 2nd half. It would have been a tall task to ask him to guard Turner all second half and four OTs without committing his fifth foul in doing so. This is why McBee guarded for the large majority of the 2nd half and first 2 OTs.

What you forget to state is that Turner scored at least his first 6-8 points against Richardson. JRich didn't pick up his first foul until 10:30 left in the first- Turner had 8 by then.

Miami just lost to Wake who is awful, meaning that **** happens Lol. It's only one bad loss, compared with a few last year. Those losses were much worse last year as well.
