Just watched the Vols/Hokies news conference.

lol, yeah I mean Doc wasn't going at over and over either. You're right. I'm wrong, but obviously just because I've pointed out I think being able to see it will be a major problem. You people make me laugh.

I swear you are all like my six yr old twin girls picking at everything each other says and then getting butt hurt if someone doesn't see it the same way! Holy crap! Ignore each other already!

I'm not butthurt about anything. I am having fun at how others are so "butthurt" because I disagree with them though. :hi:

Word here in Bristol is if it is a UT home game they are not sure that they can sell alcohol. They want to but will depend on SEC regulations. Those of you against it stop *****in and don't go. Your prerogative as Bobby Brown says but if I am still livin I am there for sure. Chance of a lifetime.

I assume they will have HD TVs in the stands? And cocktail waitresses. And complimentary wings. And helmet cams. Now we got "footballin......On your phone".

How dare you speak negatively of this idea! STFU you!

You two are gonna change the WORLD!!! I CAN JUST FEEL IT!!!

I hate Virginia Tech more than I hate anything I've ever hated. As long as we beat Tech, I'm willing to sit in a porta potty along the side of 11 W that night.

It is a UT home game and BMS will be selling alcohol.

Planning on driving down from North Dakota for this one! It'll be my first Vol game. Gonna try to get a couple tickets when they go on sale...

I don't think it's just about money. It's about paying $93 to not get a good view of the game. Sure the sightlines will be just fine, but view will be forever away and to many of us, that is appalling.

We get it. Nobody is making you buy a ticket. That's the beauty of the free market. If you don't believe it is a good value, then you don't have to purchase a ticket or attend. I'm sure the view on TV will be the same as every other game on TV.

UT didn't give up a home date. They will still have 7 games in Neyland in 2016. We are playing this game in lieu of going to Nebraska. I'm guessing you would have watched that one from home as well, so what are you missing out on by this game taking place at Bristol?

I'm fine with Grey Jerseys for Home games, but I want our guys in Orange, so I can see them from turn 3. Maybe we can experiment with some lighted jersey numbers.

Looking at the setup, the distance from the field will be awful. Ull be a half mile away in the turns...

Here's a picture from the seats along the sideline.

Wow. That is a loooooong ways away to be watching a game in person. Might have to go to the game just to for the experience, but bring a tablet to watch the game.

Underrated post IMO. If a gray uniform is a turn-on for potential recruits, then this is definitely a good carrot to hold in front of an on the fence athlete.

Our staff should have a tabletop scale model of BMS prominently displayed somewhere in the new training facility, along with a model of Neyland sitting inside of it to give these recruits a real visual idea of what it's going to be like to play there! Telling a kid about it is one thing but give them that visual impact and it drives the point home much stronger!

IMO, they wont have trouble filling the seats. Ppl will want to be apart of this. That area of Tennessee has a huge UT following as well. My wife's family is from Greeneville and I went to ETSU, those ppl need big level football up there. Same reason the ETSU program is coming back.

I bet you'll have 160,000 plus the parking lots will be filled with tailgaters partying their tails off.

Me and my dad will be there no matter what! We normally go to 2 or 3 away games a year so add at least 2 to ur total! How could you miss this game? GBO

Interesting wording on the Bristol site.

Battle At Bristol

"Let the border battle begin!
On September 10, 2016, Bristol Motor Speedway will transform its iconic short track into a world-class football stadium for the inaugural Battle at Bristol, College Football's Biggest EVER, featuring a border battle between the Virginia Tech Hokies and the Tennessee Volunteers."

Looks like they want to make this an annual or semi annual event.

I would think they are suggesting that it be the first of a series, but not necessarily every year. maybe every 5 years or so.

You can't do something special like this every year or it will lose it's uniqueness

If they do that, it should be for the UNIVERSITY OF TENNESSEE to host marquis matchups with opponents that they have never faced in a regular season, such as Michigan, Ohio State, Texas, and Nebraska. Let's see if they still want to use the "we-can't-do-this-because-we-play-nine-conference-games-per-season" argument under those circumstances. The hype and associated revenue would be significantly greater than for Tennessee vs. Virginia Tech.

Wow! From the side this is a long way away and if you happen to sit in turns 1/2 or 3/4 near the back it will be even further.

Still an awesome spectacle! Great publicity and recruiting hype. Our program needs things like this! :good!:

That's actually not as far away as I would have thought on the straightaways. Nice.

We come away with 4 million in revenue and national exposure while not losing out on a homegame on the schedule? I like the uniqueness but that's a win win situation for the school. Would that even be possible as a OOC opponent yearly though?
