Who?

And who?

Look up Kirby, was a top Rob from Taft Va. Played in the NFL for 8-10 years. He went with the home state school over the Vols. In those days we always ran the ball behind a bunch of future NFL OL. He would have really been someone to watch behind our OL in those days.
Leroy Thompson No.1 high school recruit his senior year from Knoxville I think Austin East if I remember right. In those days high school recruiting was just starting to get the coverage like u see today. He went to Penn St. over our Vols. he had a decent career there but nothing like he would have had for the Big Orange. OK history lesson is over kiddies now off to bed.

Considering his level of success in college, as well as the NFL, and the fact that he badly wanted to come to Tennessee, it would be hard to top Patrick Willis. In 2005, his junior campaign, Patrick "was named SEC Defensive Player of the Year by CollegeFootballNews.com and Scout.com. He was also named as a first-team All-American by CollegeFootballNews.com and the All-American Football Foundation. Willis earned first-team All-SEC honors from the Associated Press, SEC Coaches, College FootballNews.com and Rivals.com.

During Willis's last collegiate year in 2006, . . . he was awarded SEC Defensive Player of the Year, first-team All-SEC, and consensus first-team All-American. He was the winner of the Jack Lambert Award and the prestigious Dick Butkus Award, given to the most outstanding linebacker in college football."

As an NFL linebacker, Patrick has simply gone to the Pro Bowl every year of his career (Patrick Willis - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia).

Hman, do you know something about Butkus's recruitment that the rest of us don't? He grew up in Chicago and played at Illinois during a down period for Tennessee (1962-1964).

Right now I'd have to say Boyd or Petty. Take your pick. If either of these guys is our QB right now, we'd be sitting at 5-1 with a legit shot at winning the east.

Barrett was huge. Along with Willis. Don't forget Harrison Smith. Our secondary has been horrible for awhile.
