Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg has passed away

*except for divided government. This time it’s a Republican President and Senate

Not sure what the senate has done with the confirmation process - or even if they can change it, but the republicans don't have a 2/3 majority.

But what are they gonna do with it? Run attack ads? What’s that gonna do? Honestly, I’m not sure what any amount of money buys you here.

I don’t know how people aren’t sick of the ads . I am and I don’t care who they are for or against .

If Hillary won, Garland still wouldn’t have gotten a vote. McConnell said as much and he won’t let Biden add a Justice if he wins and McConnell still has the gavel.
I have to say that I don't remember that... and I don't think he could have gotten away with only having 8 justices for four years.

I'm sure that Biden remembers chairing the Senate Judicial Committee during the borking of both Robert Bork and Clarence Thomas. Sometimes, sh!t comes back to bite you in the ass.
It hurts your narrative that Thomas was still confirmed by a Democratic controlled Senate. Bork was rejected, but that wasn't a party line vote.

This doesn't make any sense. RBG was a leftist extremist. If you replace one leftist extremist with another, you haven't changed anything. If you replace a leftist extremist with a far right extremist... you have fundamentally changed the court.
I feel sure that the Democrats would replace Clarence Thomas with a far right Justice if they had the chance.

The gloves are off now, for sure. There was a time when both parties wanted a balanced court. There was a pretty good reason to reject Thomas. He was still confirmed by a Dem controlled Senate.

Which part? The cosmic injustice because maybe I’m on the wrong side , or the Rs want a constitutionalist and the liberals aren’t happy with that possibility , because they are on the wrong side ? I thought it was easy to follow . 😊
I think I get what you are saying.
In all honesty, I don't even acknowledge the possibility that I may be on the wrong side.
Some things are self evident...............

This didn't become such a political process until recently. A Democratic controlled Senate confirmed Clarence Thomas even though he had been accused of sexually harassing Anita Hill. A Republican controlled Senate confirmed RBG by a 96-4 vote. Quit being so damn ignorant.
The Dems did to Thomas what Dems have a history of doing to black people. They lynched him, and let him swing for several days.

^see above

After more reading I have to admit my thinking was wrong. I was under the opinion SC court nominee approval was more than a simple majority. You are right though RINO defections could sink Trump ... again. Why didn't we ditch Alexander years ago?

Mostly both sides are 48-52 and people just try to figure out which side is the 52%. When it’s that close it does take much “ cosmic injustice” to determine which is which . 🤷‍♂️
