Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg has passed away

He should just say, "it will be a great pick, the greatest ever, everybody says so, I know who it will be, many experts know and say it's the greatest pick ever, wouldn't you like to know? Maybe I'll give you some hints tomorrow, but trust me, it's great, the fake news will say it's not, but it is, greatest pick ever, maybe even in history, since George Washington Carver was picked a few years ago by that actor guy from California, but the fake news will not tell you that, they hate America and want to see it fail."
Epic. Nailed it.

Where did I say Biden wasn’t pandering to any particular group? He’s a politician, so obviously he’s going to pander. However at this point there’s no reason for Biden to release a list. Who cares if he says he’s going to nominate a black woman. No one on the left is asking for him to name his potential nominees. There were plenty of people on the right who were asking Trump to do that in 2016.
So the makeup of the supreme court is on the line and you're telling me that the democrats don't care about who Joe wants to nominate for the supreme court? You guys are dumber than a box of rocks if you think that way.

Alexander: McConnell doing what Dems 'would do if the shoe were on the other foot' with SCOTUS nomination

Sen. Lamar Alexander, R-Tenn., doesn't think Democrats would be complaining about the president getting to nominate another Supreme Court justice during an election year if they were the ones in control of the White House and Senate

“No one should be surprised that a Republican Senate majority would vote on a Republican President’s Supreme Court nomination, even during a presidential election year,” said Alexander, who is retiring this year. “The Constitution gives senators the power to do it. The voters who elected them expect it.”

“Going back to George Washington, the Senate has confirmed many nominees to the Supreme Court during a presidential election year. It has refused to confirm several when the President and Senate majority were of different parties,” Alexander added. “Senator McConnell is only doing what Democrat leaders have said they would do if the shoe were on the other foot.”

Alexander argued that the Senate has in the past voted on justices in a presidential election year while refusing to confirm others when the president and senate majority were of different parties.

He added: “I have voted to confirm Justices Roberts, Alito, Sotomayor, Gorsuch and Kavanaugh based upon their intelligence, character and temperament. I will apply the same standard when I consider President Trump’s nomination to replace Justice Ginsburg.”

I think part of it is because most of the liberal base is young, so they have a hard time seeing all the shades of gray that life experience reveals to you. We all want a better world, we just have different ideas about what makes the world better, and what road we should take to get there.
You know what you call shades of gray? Continuums.
You know what is black and white? Saying they all do it so it doesn't matter.

He is basically admitting that they are hypocrites, but also saying that Democrats would be hypocrites too if they were in the same position. It is a weak defense.

Where did I say that they don’t care? Show me where Democrats are asking for him to release a list. At this point they’re not, so there’s no reason for him to do so. If they start howling for a list, then he’ll release one.

I think it does matter that they all do it, but I see no legitimate reason behind criticizing only when it's the other side doing it. Wrong doesn't depend on which side is doing it. Some seem to believe that it does.

I won't bother to mention names.

You just made my point. Your compadres don't care.

If there was going to be a vacancy on the day of his inauguration? Then he would have to release a list during the campaign. That is not the case. Hell, RBG's seat will be filled before the election.

I don't agree with that assessment. There is plenty of evidence that conservatives think of liberals as being "bad people with bad ideas". When conservatives talk about liberals, they often reference the lunatic fringe element of Antifa, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Ayanna Pressley... and the rioters/looters. I never hear conservatives bashing someone like Bob Casey or Joe Manchin. They pick the far left faction, and try and paint it as the face of the whole party.
Maybe that’s because there’s a difference between far left liberals and Democrats.

Why would conservatives bash moderate Democrats like Bob Casey or Joe Manchin in the way you described?

Well this goes back decades, but we used to say that those that can do, those that cannot teach.
But then you say that teachers (the educational system) are changing the whole future of our nation.
It's a shame that positions with such power are filled with people who "can't do".
One would think that some who "can do" would choose to impact the future.
Odd how that all works.

Plus I've heard the same about the military. Those who can do, those who can't join the military.

Both statements are equally ignorant and insulting.

You don't talk about them at all. You only reference the lunatic fringe, because you want to portray them as being the centrist, face of the entire party. Fox News has talked about AOC more in the last 2 years than any other Democrat, including Pelosi and Schumer. That is what that Bongino clown does.

I am trying to understand your position. You are upset that the Senate, which is controlled by Republicans, is going to vote on a nomination for a SC vacancy by a Republican President? The nomination process Garland was much different in that Republicans controlled the Senate at the time and chose to block the nomination just as they had the ability to do so at the time. If Democrats controlled the Senate right now, they wouldn’t be voting for Trump’s nomination and they would have every right not to. This temper tantrum being thrown by the Left is going to drive out a lot of other voters who were going to sit this Presidential election out like myself. Packing the court, adding additional states like Puerto Rico is sheer lunacy it is a debt ridden disaster, and abolishing other Senate rules, etc. isn’t just going to energize a group of voters that was already going to vote against Trump.

The lunatic fringe gets lots of press coverage, and most of it is about trying to normalize insanity. But that's kind of besides my point. I think both sides have good and bad people. I also think the good people on both sides need to stop defending the bad people on their side simply because politics mesh.

Everything Democrats accuse Republicans of over Trump is exactly true of how they are/were with Hillary. Turn a blind eye because politics align. It goes both ways, and both sides choose to believe otherwise. But, it's been my experience, Dems are a little more die hard in denying it. The defenses of Hillary surpass the defenses of Trump, IMHO. I've heard a lot of Republicans actually admit Trump's a douche, they just don't care. I've not heard any Dem admit how corrupt and horrendous Hillary is/was.
Are you saying that the repubs who say Trump is a douche are saying that he is corrupt and horrendous?

Are you saying that the repubs who say Trump is a douche are saying that he is corrupt and horrendous?

He is a douche but even he isn’t pushing for packing the court and adding other states to hijack the EC simply because he may lose an election or political battle. Speaks volumes about the Democratic Party that even Trump wouldn’t stoop to those levels

You had 16 with higher character in the primaries. Didn't seem to be a considered factor.

True, but Hiliary was your queen, character was a non issue, and none of the sixteen could win. It would be nice to say the GOP came to their senses and dumped the Romney types, but Trump basically just took the nomination. However, back to the character issues - show us a conservative riot - where conservatives collectively had a temper tantrum and burned stuff down.
